Following allegations involving his ex-wife, Bessem, actress Doris Ogala, and other former church members, Pastor Chris Okafor, the founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, has been brought to the attention of the Lagos State Police Command.

Ogala filed a lawsuit against Pastor Okafor for breaking promises to her, which caused her emotional suffering in late last year.

She also asserted that the cleric was aware of the death of her brother. In addition, his ex-wife, Bessem, firmly refuted Okafor’s accusations of adultery against her while making accusations against the pastor.

The cleric reportedly resigned from his ministerial responsibilities for a month as a result of the rising allegations. Further sexual allegations have since been widely shared on social media.

Lagos State Police spokesman Abimbola Adebisi responded to the controversy by claiming Olohundare Jimoh, the commissioner of police, had ordered a full investigation.

According to Adebisi, Panti’s State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has been given the task of investigating the allegations.

She stated that Pastor Okafor has been requested to turn in a report to the SCID on January 5 at 10:00 a.m.

According to Adebisi, the Lagos State Police Command has invited Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, in connection with allegations of numerous rapes, other sexual crimes, and other types of behavior that are likely to endanger public safety and undermine state law and order.

The State Criminal Investigation Department (DC SCID), the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Lagos State Command, is being directed by CP Olohundare Jimoh to conduct a thorough investigation into the numerous criminal allegations made against Pastor Chris Okafor, she continued.

The spokesperson added that Jimoh has mandated strict security for the alleged victims.

“The victims’ identities will be completely kept private and secure.” Anyone who has fallen victim to the SCID is encouraged to file a complaint. Anyone who has reliable information to support the investigation is also urged to come forward without fear, she said.

She emphasized that the investigation would be conducted in strict accordance with the law, in a professional, transparent, and impartial manner.

Regardless of the status of the individuals involved, the Lagos State Police Command is committed to upholding law and order, public safety, and safety. Adebisi reaffirmed that justice must prevail.

Controversy

Chris Okafor and Doris Ogala

Pastor Okafor has been receiving attention since late 2025 because of allegations made by his ex-wife, Bessem, and Nollywood actress Doris Ogala.

After allegedly starting a relationship in 2017, Pastor Okafor allegedly broke his marriage promise.

She claimed that after his advice, he proposed to another woman, Pearl, in December of that year. The actress claimed that the relationship caused her ex-marital relationship to break down, as well as emotionally.

Pastor Okafor publicly apologized to Ms Ogala and others he claimed he had offended during a church service in late December 2025.

Ogala responded by accepting the apology but challenging his claim that all of her assertions were false.

Ogala’s legal team has requested N1 billion in damages from the saga, which has sparked a lot of public concern, as well as legal challenges, including questions about the death of her younger brother.
