Prior to the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr festivities, the Kano State Police Command imposed a ban on all Sallah Durbar celebrations due to security concerns and the need to prevent unrest.  ,
Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the commissioner of police, made the announcement Friday in a press conference at the Kano headquarters of the Bompai Police.
He claimed that intelligence reports revealed plans for some organizations to use the Durbar to create unrest.

The command, in collaboration with other security organizations, has assessed the rising tensions and uncertainties surrounding the Durbar activities in order to ensure a safe and secure celebration and to maintain peace and public order, according to CP Bakori.
A ban on all Durbar activities in the state during the 2025 Eid-El-Fitr Sallah celebrations has been placed on all such activities because of credible intelligence reports regarding plans to use the Durbar as a proxy for unrest.
The Police Commissioner emphasized that the decision was made following extensive discussions with the government of Kano State and other important parties.
Existing security measures
The police command has urged people to observe Eid prayers only on designated prayer grounds and by security protocols.
Parents and guardians must warn their children against engaging in disruptive behavior, as well as avoiding carrying unnecessary objects that may raise suspicion.
He further warned that anyone who violated these rules would face legal repercussions.

The police, according to CP Bakori, have deployed sufficient security personnel to make sure a peaceful Sallah celebration. He urged the general public to practice law and prioritize harmony while the festivities are taking place.
