After a covert operation by the Special Squad I of the Command, the victim, who was taken by the family’s painter, was unharmed, according to the Lagos Police Command’s spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Thursday.  ,
Hundeyin claimed that the rescue operation began on August 25, 2025, when the child’s father reported to the Alapere Police Division that his son had been removed from their home without permission. The suspect then contacted the victim’s mother and demanded N7 million as a ransom for the boy’s release.
He claimed that the Special Squad I of the Command immediately began a custodial investigation. The suspect was taken into custody in Lagos’ Ijegun on August 27th, and agents located him there on August 27. The victim was safely rescued after being discovered locked in a room. Since then, the child has been reunited with his kin.

POLICE ARREST KIDNAP SUSPECT, RESCUE 7-YEAR-OLD VICTIM
One Chigozie Michael Clement, 32, has been detained by Special Squad I members of the Lagos State Police Command for the abduction of a 7-year-old child in Lagos.
The victim’s father reported to Alapere Police Division on August 25, 2025, that his son had been removed from his home without his permission by his painter. The suspect called the victim’s mother shortly after and demanded money as ransom for the child’s release, requesting N7, 000, 000 (Seven Million Naira).
The Lagos State Police Command’s Special Squad I was given the opportunity to conduct a discreet investigation following the report. The suspect was detained in Lagos’ Ijegun on August 27, 2025, where operatives located him, and the 7-year-old victim was rescued from a locked room where he had been held captive. Since then, the victim has been reunited with his family.
The suspect admitted to the crime, claiming that he kidnapped the child to get money for his own family. Possible accomplices and supporting evidence are being looked into, and the case will be brought before the court in accordance with the law.
Lagos State Command’s Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reassures Lagosians that the Command will continue to use all of its resources to combat crime.
