Pierce Brosnan, an Irish actor, is well known for his obscene portrayal of MI5 agent James Bond, who has since admitted he could reprise the role if the timing was right.

Pierce Brosnan has admitted that he would “entertain” the idea of a return to the James Bond movie franchise as a retired agent. The Irish actor, 72, is known for his incarnation of the slick MI5 agent, whom he starred as in four movies between 1995 and 2002.

While Pierce has now ruled out a comeback as Bond himself while on active duty, he is open to playing a retired version of the agent. Asked about the possibility of reprising the role, he said, “Of course, people ask about Bond – ‘would you?’ and whatever – but that’s another man’s job.

Speaking to British GQ: he continued, “But the possibilities of working within that film, entertaining… So it’s going to be exciting to see what happens. I think everything changes, everything falls apart, so you just sit back and enjoy it all.”

When asked if he would consider playing a retired agent, he replied, “Sometimes you just move on, others you just entertain.” Pierce and Pierce further discussed their future plans as they both admitted to wanting to produce a sequel to the Thursday Murder Club series.

He already starred in one adaptation of the books by TV presenter Richard Osman on Netflix. He also confirmed that he has started filming the second season of Paramount+ crime drama MobLand, which sees him star alongside Tom Hardy and Helen Mirren.

In the series, Tom’s Harry Da Souza serves as his right-hand man as a bitter war breaks out between two criminal families, he portrays Irish mob boss Conrad Harrigan.

He continued, “It’s just been a delight to work back to back for two years.” It allows me to play characters in this day and age. It makes it easier for me to enjoy the acting and the role that I play within the image, the symbol, the icon of the person I’ve created.

Brosnan played Bond in GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (2002). Brosnan portrays former trade unionist Ron Ritchie in the earlier this year’s film The Thursday Murder Club.

As he approaches his more senior years, Pierce acknowledged that he is now enjoying playing older characters and that “having a conscious intention to advance because I’m the age I am, and I embrace it.” I’m not interested in jumping out of airplanes. Jump in the bus. Take the bus and slam it down.
