Oscar Piastri, who was born in Melbourne, will compete in the Australian Grand Prix in 2014.

With 10 races left, Lando Norris, a McLaren teammate, is in command of the drivers’ championship this year, scoring nine points ahead of the 24-year-old.

Since the start of the world championship in 1950, Piastri has won six grand prix so far in 2025, surpassing any other Australian driver in a single season.

He said on X, “I never thought this would happen, but the support is incredible and I can’t wait to see it all come together next March.”

On the main straight, in opposition to the pit lane, will the grandstand be located.

“I’m really looking forward to feeling the energy and the atmosphere,” he said, “and seeing all the fans in my own grandstand directly opposite the McLaren garage is going to be amazing.”

From March 6 through March 2026, the season-opening race in Melbourne will take place.

Piastri joins the growing number of drivers on the grid with dedicated grandstands, who has eight career victories overall but hasn’t made the podium in three attempts in Australia.

Lewis Hamilton and Norris both have stands at Silverstone’s British Grand Prix, with Norris’ located along the main start-finish straight and Norris’ “Landostands” at Stowe Corner.

Max Verstappen, the four-time champion, has grandstands dedicated to him throughout the F1 calendar, including his native Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.
