After being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, Pete Doherty, the rocker of the Libertines, received a serious warning.

The 45-year-old star was told by doctors that he could have his toes amputated. Carl Barat, the band’s friend, was seen assisting him off the stage at a concert in Köln, and Pete used a walking stick earlier this month at a Berlin gallery launch event. During some of his tour, he had to perform from a chair.

In a recent concert in Munich, Germany, he told his audience, “I saw the doctor today, and he said you need to stay off your feet as much as you can otherwise you’ll lose your toes.” In early 2024, he revealed he had type 2 diabetes.

In an interview with the Guardian’s Saturday magazine, he said: “I gave up the main poisons and my health improved. Then you are told that you were healthier while taking heroin because alcohol, cheese, and sugar were just as bad. Pete went on to call himself “a bit of a glutton”, adding, “It’s not a joke. I’ve been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. And at the moment I’m lacking the discipline to tackle cholesterol”.

The rocker discussed his colorful past and how it’s had a significant impact on his health the year before, while taking part in the BBC’s “Louis Theroux Interviews.” Pete coughed before clutching his chest and groaning in pain in one scene of the film. He said: “You are looking at a very sick man. I’ve battered it, haven’t I, I’ve f***ing caned it. The heroin and the crack… I surrendered to that, and then it was cocaine and the smoking and the alcohol, and now it’s cheese and the saucisson, and the sugar in the tea”.

Pete added: “It’s all gotta go. They warned me a while back that if you don’t alter your diet, you’ll develop diabetes and high cholesterol. Death’s lurking, you know what I mean? That’s why I carry that stick”. Fete has been largely unharmed since 2019 and credited Frederic Lo with saving him from his struggles saying he was the one who lifted him out of darkness.

The singer was also known for his drug-fueled public antics in the late 1990s and early 1990s, and he was also known as the antiquarian icon. He has cut himself off from the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle and lives in Normandy in a quiet manner.
