After tearing his hamstring, Barcelona and Spain midfielder Pedri is ready for a significant spell out.
Barcelona confirmed on Wednesday that the 22-year-old had a tear in his left thigh’s distal biceps femoris muscle.
The hamstring group at the back of the thigh includes the biceps femoris.
Instead of providing a recovery timeline, the organization stated that “the player’s recovery will dictate his return to action.”
Pedri missed just one of Hansi Flick’s 73 games as manager despite having played in 41 consecutive games for Barcelona.
After being sent off for a late challenge on Aurelien Tchouameni in Barcelona’s 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid, the midfielder was scheduled to miss the team’s upcoming La Liga game against Elche.
Since joining Barcelona from Las Palmas at the age of 17, Pedri has made 215 appearances in all competitions.
Since joining the club, the Spaniard has had a number of hamstring issues, including one that required him to stay out for more than three months between September 2021 and January 2022.
He joins Gavi, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Dani Olmo, Joan Garcia, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen on a long list of injury absences from Barcelona.
