Patsy passed away on January 19 at the age of 95, according to reports that she was reportedly suffering from a “short illness” at the time of her passing.
She was best known for playing the role of Governor Erica Davidson, but she also had roles in the theatre and on ABC’s radio. Her theatrical career included roles in Agnes and Wendy in Peter Pan, both of which earned her the 1963 Erik Award for Best Actress. She also made her professional stage debut in 1951.
She appeared in long-running serials, read children’s books, and appeared on television. However, her TV acting prowess were her most notable accomplishments, with 351 Prisoner: Cell Block H appearances and leading and guest appearances on numerous ABC TV programs, including Homicide, Division 4, Matlock Police, and The Box.
Meanwhile, Patsy was also one of the original presenters on Play School in Australia. Other credits include Power Without Glory, The Sullivans and The Rivals.
In the West End theatre production Prisoner Cell Block H, which sold out and had a very successful run, Patsy reprised the role of Erica from the screen in 1989.
