As the manager responded to speculation about his future by leading the Red Dragons to victory at Norwich City, Phil Parkinson feels the football industry has been quick to overlook Wrexham’s where they have come from.
Although a report claimed that the club’s hierarchy was discussing the 57-year-old’s position with the Welsh side, the manager and Wrexham’s non-executive director Shaun Harvey swiftly rejected those claims, which were later dissuaded by the report.
And Parkinson was eager to share the story of the Red Dragons’ remarkable comeback against the Canaries after the Red Dragons won their second Championship game.
“Today, we showed up at Carrow Road in front of 26, 000 people and won in front of a very strong team led by a top manager.”

Harvey called the speculation about Parkinson’s future at the Stok Cae Ras [Racecourse ground] “absolutely disgusting,” adding that the manager has the full backing of the North Wales club.
Parkinson claims that Parkinson’s longevity in the game has allowed him to sway the noise from the outside.
He said, “First of all, I don’t listen to any outside talk.”
I’m not sure where that speculation came from, but everyone seems to be supporting me without any other explanation.
“It’s not just about me,” he said. We’ve had times where people have doubted us throughout my time at Wrexham, but we’ve also grown stronger as a team, including the owners, staff, and players, and we’ve overcome this.
This is a satisfactory result. We are aware that we have some work to do.
“But I’ve managed over 1, 000 games, so I don’t think I’d be stood here because it’s very difficult to stay in the role because people really listen to what people say on social media,” he said.
Ben Sheaf, Issa Kabore, and Dom Hyam, who all made their debuts for Wrexham on deadline, made their debuts at Norwich on January 1.
Ryan Longman’s goal turned the game on its head when Josh Windass scored either side of Jack Stacey’s opener on his return from injury.
In added time, Jovon Makama gave the Canaries a faint hope, but Wrexham held on for a crucial three points to finish 15th in the Championship.
And Parkinson was pleased that Liam Manning’s team won, giving him far more options.
He said, “We’ve hired players, but there aren’t enough of them on the pitch yet.” That is what we are pursuing. Can what we’re attempting to accomplish not be seen from a distance?
