Lucas Paqueta, who was cleared of spot-fixing charges, is a West Ham player, according to Graham Potter, who has since said Michail Antonio will not play in his squad this year.
The Brazil international was cleared of being intentionally booked by the Football Association after almost two years after the Football Association began its investigation.
The 27-year-old had been subject to a lifetime ban.
Paqueta had a strong connection to a move to Manchester City when the FA began its investigation.
West Ham fans are concerned that the playmaker might be lured away because the transfer window won’t close until September 1st.
Potter, however, has a more positive outlook on the situation.
“But the news is incredibly encouraging,” she continued. There would have been a whole new line of questions if things had turned the other way.
Lucas is content and committed. We cherish him because he is a significant member of the club’s dressing room and club. We just want to make sure he enjoys playing football.
“You can imagine that having to defend those allegations was a tremendous challenge for him,” he said. His life and career have been through a lot of upheaval.
He and his family and everyone who has backed him have a lot of praise for how far he has come.
It is unknown whether Paqueta will file legal action against the FA because the written justifications are yet to be released.
Antonio appears to be in line with Potter’s plans at the moment.
When asked if the 35-year-old would be a part of his squad for the upcoming campaign following the signing of another veteran frontman and Antonio’s former podcast partner, Callum Wilson, Potter simply responded, “No.
The club announced last month that no formal decisions had been made regarding the player whose contract expired at the end of the month.
The club’s top priority at this time is to support Michail personally as he re-enters the game at the highest level, according to a statement from the club.
Before Potter’s response, there hadn’t been any updates on that.
Antonio made a play-back appearance for Jamaica during this summer’s Concacaf Gold Cup after recovering from his horrific car crash in December.
