Paloma Faith, the chart-topping singer, has reflected on the “slow” passing of a friend who had been diagnosed with cancer and who passed away shortly after leaving a final message for him.

A friend of hers passed away shortly after she spoke to him, and Paloma Faith was left speechless in tears. When her music director friend B. . left the singer and Celebrity Traitors star in 2022, she was devastated. B Bones passed away, his real name Kevin Banks.

Kevin had battled cancer, but the star continued to work as he did so. Before revealing that her friend’s life inspired her music, Paloma tearfully described the “slow way” her friend passed away.

The Only Love Can Hurt Like This singer, who opened up on her Mad, Sad and Bad podcast, stated, “He was one of my best friends, and he died in a very slow way of cancer and he refused to stop working.” After that, she continued to describe life with him while he was on tour with her in 2021.

She said: “We did this whole tour, which is really weird and slightly comical because I thought he would be dead by the time we did this tour, and, I’d written all these songs about him. I was going on stage singing songs like If This Is Goodbye about him dying, and he was on stage with me and it was so weird.”

She continued, “I can recall giving him hugs for our final bow on the last day of the tour.” Then I asked, “Is that the last time we’ll ever play together?” before she shielded her face and he said, “Yes, I think so.”

After Kevin entered a hospice where he later passed away, Paloma continued to express her heartbreak. She explained that moments before his death, she texted him a voice message to “let go.”

She said, “You’ve done so much and we love you so much, but it’s time for you to go because you’re tired,” after leaving him a voice note. You need a break, so don’t hold on any longer. And it turns out that he stopped breathing two minutes later.

Paloma had previously opened up about her respect and admiration for her friend as she posted a tribute to him on social media following his death three years ago. She stated at the time: “He was one of the most inspiring people in my tribe. We travelled the world with one another, we spent days and nights laughing, musing, working together and loving each other. I am heartbroken that he won’t be on the next tour.”
