Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca describes Cole Palmer’s recent struggles on the pitch as “a mental thing.”

The 22-year-old England international has scored 14 goals in his first 23 games of the season, but he hasn’t scored in 16 games.

Chelsea has since dropped from second to sixth place and out of the Champions League.

However, Palmer has attempted 41 shots in total, surpassing any other Premier League player.

It’s certainly a mental thing, Maresca said, not a tactical or technical one.

“Cole is still the player with the 20 goals he has ever scored. The manager and the club have the same personalities. In regards to Cole, nothing has changed. Simply put, this is mental at the time.

He appears to be a little worried because he wants to support the team, he says. You can tell that he is struggling a little with that. He showed his happiness after Fulham, though. It’s just a matter of whether or not we can win games. He will undoubtedly score goals.

Not a failure in season

Maresca will miss Saturday’s game against Everton because he has received a one-game touchline ban.

Willy Caballero, the dugout’s assistant boss, will be present.

In the stands, Maresca inquired if she needed someone to sit next to me.

“I’m not sure if I’ll be with someone or alone. I’ll make an effort to be who I always want to be tomorrow. The leadership group should step up and accept responsibility when the manager is absent.

Maresca claims that this season was “not a failure.”

The Blues, who are currently playing in the Conference League semi-finals, might not be able to win the Champions League next year.

It is not a failure, according to Maresca, who is in charge for his first season.
