Palestine and the decline of the US empire

Since the Israeli occupation of Gaza began 19 months ago. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister Yoav Gallant have been wanted on charges of war crimes while the International Criminal Court is looking into a “plausible genocide.” What is happening in Gaza has been labeled as genocide by leading experts in the field of human rights, including prominent scholars of genocide, and international human rights organizations. People have marched to urge their governments to halt it all over the world.

The United States is the only nation that is preventing this genocide. There hasn’t been any change in policy since one administration handed over to another. The US political establishment seems to be unmoved by the idea of unconditional support for Israel.

Judeo-Christian values and a shared democratic path are at the core of this “special relationship,” according to various analyses, while donor class dominance and the two-party system are at the core of it.

The reality is much simpler. Israel serves as a crucial ally for the US because it encourages its own global dominance in an era of unavoidable decline. According to the US elites, maintaining US supremacy is essential to surviving in its current settler-colonial form.

US empire’s supremacy

The US has been the only superpower in the world since the end of the Cold War and the Soviet Union’s collapse.

The US empire continues to rule over global economic, political, and cultural issues, often with disastrous consequences for the lives of millions of people all over the world.

Through its unwavering military might, the US strengthens and strengthens its position of supremacy and hegemony in the world, like all empires. It has access to and control over resources, trade routes, and markets through the US’s infrastructure of organized imperial violence. This in turn guarantees constant economic dominance and growth.

However, there have been recent indications that US supremacy is being challenged. The desire to do so increased following the global financial crisis of 2008-2009. It demonstrated how detrimental US dominance on the global economy is to other countries, and it spurred nations like China and India to act to protect themselves. Their common economic response to the BRICS coalition of economies came into being.

The US’s ability to control the world’s affairs was further demonstrated by various US foreign policy failures in the years that followed, including the US’s failure to win in Afghanistan, its declining influence in Africa, and its inability to stop the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The rise of US President Donald Trump and far-right populism in the country was a result of cracks beginning to appear at the very core of the so-called liberal order under US control.

No empire has ever readily accepted its decline, just like the US. It needs imperial outposts to stand up straight and defend its position as the unquestionable superpower in order to do so.

Israel is the most trustworthy imperial allies.

West Europe and Israel served as the US’s junior allies throughout the Cold War. The US-Israeli relationship appears to be as strong as it has always been, despite the decades-old transatlantic alliance’s fading a little.

Israel’s standing as an imperial outpost has been demonstrated. In two ways, it has significantly contributed to US imperialism.

First, Israel assists the US in ensuring that it has access to and control the energy market, one of the most crucial markets for any empire. The Middle East’s oil and gas policies have a significant impact on the world economy because it is a significant contributor to global energy trade.

The US fears that a competing power will lose control of the world’s energy markets, which is why it wants to defend its interests by establishing a regional order in the Middle East that favors its imperial power overwhelmingly. With this new order, the US will have a significant advantage over China, which is its main rival, who wants to enter the area.

By removing hostile organizations and governments, the administration of former US President Joe Biden and its successor, the Trump administration, are trying to establish this new security reality in the area. Because of this, the US continues to support them.

Second, Israel is crucial to advancing the US military’s supremacy. The US offers Israel billions of dollars in aid, which is actually a form of self-investment in enhancing its military might and expanding its sales. The Israeli government uses these funds to purchase weapons from US arms manufacturers, which Israel then uses to test and market Israeli weapons as a result of Israel’s Middle Eastern deployment. In order to give the US military-industrial complex a competitive edge over its competitors, it is possible to sell more weapons and keep up its innovation and expansion.

One of the most crucial components of the US imperial apparatus is Israel, in this regard. Without it, maintaining its imperial dominance in the Middle East would be difficult for the US. Biden once famously claimed that the US would need to create Israel if it didn’t exist.

Palestine liberation and global decolonization

The Palestine solidarity movement in the US has suffered an unprecedented blow to all public spheres, including healthcare and education, over the past year. Additionally, South Africa and other nations have been subject to more frequent US threats for their support for Palestine.

One has to wonder what about a stateless people without any economic, diplomatic, or military power, given the magnitude of the resources and resources the US empire uses to eradicate and subjugate Palestinians.

The US empire sees a free Palestine as the start of its own extinction, according to the answer.

The US is actively attempting to stop the world from doing the right thing by isolating the Israeli state politically and economically out of fear of what may come next. In the end, this isolation would make it difficult for Israel to maintain its status as a settler colonial project. Palestinians and Israelis would eventually coexist under a new decolonial political system that would integrate into the region and no longer serve imperial interests.

A decolonized Palestinian/Israeli entity would significantly advance the decolonization of the world order and its liberation from US imperial control. The US is dreadful of this, too.

In this regard, the vast majority of the world’s nations should follow this path in their own interests. This is crucial for Palestinians’ future because they are currently in actual danger of being eliminated and subjected to total subjugation. And this also affects the future of many other countries, if they want to stop the Palestinians’ current, abominable brutalities on their own.

The world, especially the Global South, requires a decolonized Palestine to accelerate US decline, just as the US needs a colonial-era Israel to stop its decline. Palestinians stand in the way of US and Western imperialism’s ongoing advance to global dominance, both metaphorically and literally.
