Jean-Philippe Mateta and Crystal Palace are in talks about a new contract.

Although a final decision is still pending, it is believed that a deal is now close.

The 27-year-old scored 17 goals overall in Palace’s first major trophy while playing for Oliver Glasner’s side last season.

The Frenchman, who initially signed on loan from Mainz in 2021, has been linked with leaving Selhurst Park, with clubs like Marseille, Manchester United, and Aston Villa among those who have expressed interest.

His current contract expires in 2027, after the Eagles granted him a 12-month extension.

However, Palace want to secure Mateta’s long-term future and are reluctant to let him enter his final year of negotiations.

According to a report from BBC Sport earlier, Mateta’s side might have to wait until the end of the month to find out if they can play in the 2025-26 Europa League.

To avoid conflicts of interest, Uefa regulations forbid individuals from controlling more than one club during the same competition.
