John Murray has made numerous football-related comments throughout his career, but one fan has always stayed afloat when Crystal Palace won the FA Cup final in May 2025.

Lewis Carey’s side’s victory in their first major trophy will remain a constant reminder.

Carey chose to tattoo his entire calf with all the words Murray said on BBC Radio 5 Live right after the final whistle at Wembley in the 1-0 victory over Manchester City, with Eberechi Eze scoring the winner.

What a moment for all of South London, the scenes in these stands, the flags, the celebrations, I swear you can hear the majority of Wembley right now, according to the 124-word tattoo.

According to Carey, “listening to the words makes you goosebumps,” “It’s just the words.”

“Your team won the FA Cup, and you want to get yourself a tattoo to honor that.”

The words “three or four days after the final, I heard them on the]5 Live] Facebook video,” which has been around for a while, have stuck with me ever since.

Carey shared the tattoo with Murray on social media, where Ian Dennis, a fellow 5 Live commentator, received it.

It almost brought tears to my eye because it was the Palace’s most prestigious achievement, “Murray added on 5 Live Breakfast,” said Murray.

You try to convey what it means to the viewers of the radio by putting into words what they would be feeling, much like Lewis did.
