Yeremy Pino’s transfer to Villarreal is a theoretical agreement that Crystal Palace have agreed to value at up to £26 million.
The 22-year-old is reportedly ready to relocate to Selhurst Park and has a medical appointment scheduled for later this week.
Pino has a £69m release clause, but Villarreal have chosen to accept Palace’s offer given that only two years remain until his contract expires.
After Eberechi Eze’s £60m move to Arsenal last week, the Eagles made a move for Pino.
Eze, 27, was Palace’s talisman last year, helping the team win the FA Cup, their first major trophy in their history, by scoring 14 goals and adding 11 assists in 43 games.
Following a quiet transfer window, manager Oliver Glasner expressed his confidence that Palace would make new signings before Monday’s deadline day, saying: “very confident” the club would make new signings.
Only two signings have been made so far this summer: Borna’s £3 million move from Ajax and goalkeeper Walter Benitez’s free transfer from PSV Eindhoven.
Manuel Akanji, a 30-year-old Swiss defender, is wanted by Palace for an additional £15 million.
Winger Pino made his debut at Villareal in 2017 after graduating from Las Palmas’ youth program.
He made his 2020 full debut last season, helping Villarreal finish fifth and earn qualification for the Champions League with four goals in 34 league games.
