Ozzy Osbourne’s cause of death was revealed weeks after the Black Sabbath legend tragically died at his home surrounded by his relatives

Ozzy Osbourne’s cause of death was disclosed weeks after he died. The Black Sabbath icon died on July 22, at the age of 76, surrounded by his wife Sharon and their children.

In the years leading up to his death, Ozzy had been publicly battling health issues, but was determined to perform at Villa Park for his final gig just days before he died.

His death certificate revealed that the Prince of Darkness suffered an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction (joint causes). His profession was noted as “rock legend, songwriter and performer.”

An acute myocardial infarction is a condition where the blood supply to the heart is blocked, often due to a blood clot, resulting in damage to the heart muscles. Symptoms can include chest pain, such as pressure, heaviness, tightness or squeezing, pain in other areas of the body like the arm, jaw, neck, back and stomach, lightheadedness, sweating, shortness of breath and feeling unwell. Air ambulance medics spent two hours trying to save Ozzy after they were dispatched to his home.

During Monday night’s episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Ozzy’s son, Jack, became emotional while speaking about his late father. Speaking to Lisa Riley, Jack said: “It was definitely a shock. I mean, we knew he was sick for a while, but it was definitely a shock, I mean, we didn’t know it would be that quick… It was the ultimate mic drop, he did a massive big gig and was like, ‘Alright, I’m done.'”

The tears started rolling when Emmerdale actress asked Jack what his father would think of him appearing on the ITV show. “He’d be so supportive of this,” he said while wiping away his tears.

While sitting in the Bush Telegraph, away from his campmates, Jack opened up on his grief, explaining: “I’m still navigating it all, it’s been three, nearly four months, and it’s still pretty fresh.”

Jack has the full blessing of his mum, Sharon, and sister, Kelly, to appear in the jungle – with the iconic family tuning in to watch him on the show. He confessed that leaving his family, who are still grieving, will be incredibly difficult for him. “It’s absolutely going to be hard leaving them behind,” Jack said.

He added: “I have got lots of kids, my wife, and my family still in the wake of my dad passing. It is going to be difficult, that is for sure. It’s not the longest amount of time I’ve been away from them. I’ve gone on different trips filming Adrenaline Junkie for nearly two months without a phone.

“I still had access to one, and I was able to make calls home. It’s going to be very difficult not speaking to my wife and kids. But yes, I do hope I can make my family proud.”

The reality star only signed on the dotted line just ten days before he jetted to Australia. However, he “definitely had to think” about whether he wanted to take part. He said: “It’s an absolute commitment, but the real reason why it is popular is people sit at home saying, ‘could I do that?’, so I think a lot of why I’ve said ‘yes’ is the intrigue and how would I survive that? I am very nervous though!”

Confirming that Ozzy had died in July, a statement from the family, released from his hometown, said: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.

“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”

Reflecting on his final performance, Ozzy’s Black Sabbath bandmate, Geezer Butler, described how the music legend was “frail” but “thrilled” to be able to perform for his devoted fans, who had remained loyal throughout his career.
