Ozzy Osbourne says his health problems mean he is unsure how long he will be able to perform at his farewell show this summer.

The singer, 76, said he will do “bits and pieces” when he reunites with Black Sabbath for the gig, but he does not think he can do the whole set. Ozzy, who has Parkinson’s disease as well as leg, neck and back issues, has not played a full concert for six years. He says the show on July 5 will be his last ever.

Ozzy said: “I’m not planning on doing a set with Black Sabbath but I am doing little bits and pieces with them. I am doing what I can, where I feel comfortable.” The star, who often needs a wheelchair, talked about his mobility issues on his SiriusXM radio show Ozzy Speaks.

He said: “I am trying to get back on my feet… When you get up in the morning, you just jump out of bed. I have to balance myself, but I’m not dead. I’m still actively doing things.”

Ozzy, who is nicknamed the Prince of Darkness, will join his Black Sabbath bandmates for the all-star, all-day fundraising festival at Villa Park in their home city of Birmingham. Tickets sold out in 16 minutes, with some going for as much as £834. It will be the first time the original line-up of the legendary heavy metal band has played together for 20 years. Black Sabbath fans vented their anger at ticket prices for the gig while trying to secure their place at the historic performance.

The proceeds from the gig will be split equally across three charities -Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Acorn Children’s Hospice and Cure Parkinson’s – a cause that is close to Ozzy’s heart as he has lived with Parkinson’s since 2020.

Ozzy is in a race against time to get fit for the Villa Park gig. He’s opened up in the past about the health challenges he’s faced.

His issues started from a 2019 late night fall at his LA home. That led to numerous surgeries and hundreds of hours of physiotherapy, which mean he can just walk a couple of feet. He cancelled his farewell tour, but has been pushing to return to play. Ozzy did not attend the announcement for the Villa Park return, leaving wife Sharon to.

Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi revealed Ozzy would be sitting on a throne for the gig at Villa Park. “It’s going to be very different for us because Ozzy’s not going to be prancing about onstage – he’s going to be on a throne because he has problems with walking due to his Parkinson’s disease – but he tells me his voice is in good shape. It’s the last chance for the four of us to finally get together again and play; to do what we set out to do all those years ago.”
