Anthony Joshua, a former world heavyweight boxing champion, was involved in the accident, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command.  ,
Afolabi Oyewole, the Ogun State Public Relations Officer for the FRSC, said the driver was traveling at a very high speed before accidentally overtaking and colliding with a stationary truck parked on the extreme shoulder of the road.

The driver who was involved in that horrifying accident involving Anthony Joshua was traveling at a very high speed, which was what transpired yesterday. A stationed vehicle was parked at the extreme shoulder of the road when he wrongly overtook and struck it.
According to him, the impact prevented the car’s drivers from escaping without harm, adding that it was only fortunate that the vehicle’s point of impact was on its right-hand side.
He said, “There was no way he could have saved every other person in that car, but fortunately, the right-hand side of the car hit the truck because he had a bad accident.”

Oyewole confirmed that Anthony Joshua and the passenger were both survived the collision and were later taken away by Department of State Services (DSS) employees who were stationed in an unnamed hospital.
“The driver and Anthony Joshua are hearty and hale.” According to what we’ve heard, they are responding to treatment, he claimed, but the DSS attached him to an undisclosed hospital.
He also made it known that two victims of the accident lost their lives, and that their bodies have been taken to the morgue for their families’ identification.
According to Oyewole, “the two bodies of the victims have been taken to the morgue for later identification so that the families can do the needy.”
With the introduction of laser speed guns, the Ogun State Sector Commander and patrol teams’ increased enforcement activities in December, particularly against overspeeding, according to the FRSC spokesman.
The laser gun that could pick overspeeding vehicles from a distance was a new thing we did, he said.
Oyewole argued that overspeeding frequently results in a loss of control and fatalities in the majority of fatal crashes.
Joshua was involved in the tragic road accident along the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which runs along the Ogun State’s Makun axis.
