Despite an appeal from the Federal Government,  , Osun Governor, Ademola Adeleke, insists there is no going back on the local government election in the South-West state.  ,
The governor made this known in a statement on Friday by his spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, despite an appeal from the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, to suspend the polls.
“As for me and my people, we stand by the rule of law, not illegal self-help. The outcome of the election will be a local-level rapid development. I urge our people to remain peaceful. The statement, which calls on parties and other parties to “adhere to democratic norms,” read “Osun is a truly peaceful state.”
“Our people are prepared for elections tomorrow. They aspire to have the power to choose between chairmen and councillors. According to the reports I have, OSIEC did a fantastic job of preparation. The governor stated that there will be a level playing field for all candidates to test their popularity with the general public because there are several political parties participating.

Governor Ademola Adeleke has confirmed that the Osun State Independent’s local government election scheduled for tomorrow is going smoothly…
Fagbemi made reference to Akure’s recent Court of Appeal decision, which overturned a previous Federal High Court decision that invalidated previous local government elections held by former governor Adegboyega Oyetola. The ruling effectively reinstated the sacked council chairmen, whose tenure, according to the AGF, remains valid until October 2025.
