Osun Govt Rejects Police Advice, Insists LG Poll Will Hold

Osun Govt Rejects Police Advice, Insists LG Poll Will Hold

The Nigeria Police Force’s recommendation to suspend the state’s local government elections has been rejected by the Osun State government, which calls for the exercise to continue today.

According to a report from CNN’s Television, the police reportedly called on the Osun State government to postpone the elections on Friday because of security concerns.

The police claimed in a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, that they had received reliable information about the potential for violent attacks and significant security threats should the planned elections occur.

However, the state government acknowledges the police’s advice in a statement, according to Kolapo Alimi, the state’s commissioner for information and public enlightenment, who responded by saying the state government would not violate a court order mandating the holding of elections.

The state government of Osun state has acknowledged the Nigerian Police Force’s security advice, but we regret to learn that it has been rejected due to the rule of law and a dislike of police partisanship, according to the statement.

According to His Excellency Governor Ademola Adeleke, the state government has reviewed the recommendations and concluded that the force headquarters’ recommendations were biased, partisan, and in violation of democratic principles. Our opposition to a Greek gift is reinforced by the claim that the service is promoting the public good while also supporting the APC’s illegality.

The police have been using their open support for the All Progressive Congress, a party that is pushing for illegality through a non-existing court order, as best practices from the beginning of this confrontation. The police actively assisted the APC in enforcing a reinstatement order that was never ever issued by a court of law, according to the entire world.

A law enforcement agency has unapologetically changed into the APC, losing all luster in a fair law enforcement agency. The police’s negative influence on the current face-off made its advice poisonous.

We also bring the court’s decision of today to our attention. It contains three orders that confirm Osun council vacancies by verifying APC council chieftains’ dismissals. directed the police and other security forces to ensure election security and authorized the start of fresh LG elections on Saturday, March 22.

The service is regrettably following its partisan bias by actively opposing the rule of law as advocated by today’s court ruling.

The Osun state government will not go against the rule of law if the police choose to disobey court orders, which is why the state government voted to support the state electoral commission’s support for tomorrow’s credible, fair, and free elections.
