The 2026 Oscar nominations are being announced today – with the full list of nominees being revealed.

Actors, actresses and those behind the camera have been eagerly awaiting to hear if their flicks have a chance at receiving a nod from The Academy, ahead of the glittering ceremony at The Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Sinners makes history!

Sinners has made history by breaking the record for the most Oscar nominations.

The biggest snubs – from Paul Mescal to Wicked

While there’s lots to celebrate about this year’s nominees, it’s hard to ignore the big snubs of the season – particularly in the case of Hamnet star Paul Mescal. The historical tragedy picked up eight nominations this afternoon, including Best Actress for Jessie Buckley, however Paul didn’t make it into the Best Actor category for playing William Shakespeare.

One Battle After Another’s Chase Infiniti and Marty Supreme’s Odessa A’zion missed out of nods. Meanwhile, Wicked: For Good received zero nominations this year despite Part One winning two and receiving nominations for 10 last year – including Best Actress for Cynthia Erivo and Best Supporting Actress for Ariana Grande.

British actress Wunmi Mosaku nominated in the Best Supporting Actress Category

Wunmi Mosaku is flying the flag for Britain as one of the few Brits to receive an Oscar nomination this year. The star is nominated in the best supporting actress category for her role as Hoodoo priestess Annie in Sinners.

Wunmi opened up about her career ambitions on The Graham Norton Show, revealing she was inspired by the 1980s film Annie.

She said: “I watched Annie every single day after school. I said to my mum and sister ‘I don’t want to do maths and economics, I think I want to act’.”

Wunmi was accepted into Rada, which she says changed her “whole life”.

Hamnet producer ‘delighted’ by film’s eight nominations

Laurie Borg, an executive producer on Hamnet, has said he’s “delighted” by the film’s eight nominations.

He said: “I think when we made this little film we never thought we’d get what we’ve got today. It’s rather been a marvellous five minutes.”

Laurie added it was a “shame” Paul Mescal missed out on the best supporting actor category.

Sinners cinematographer says team ‘worked so hard’ after record nominations

Autumn Durald Arkapaw, who is nominated in the Cinematography category for her work on Sinners, never dreamt the film would receive a record-breaking 16 nominations.

When asked if she was expecting Sinners to receive a record-breaking number of nominations, she said: “we did not, no”.

She added: “I’m very excited, I think everyone worked so hard on the film and we believed in it. The people who made it really cared about it.”

Wicked: For Good scores zero nominations

It was a box office smash but its stars, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, have failed to make best actress and supporting actress categories, and the movie has missed out on best picture too.
