Katy Perry is thought to be upset and disappointed at ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom’s mocking reaction to an online take on her ‘date’ with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
Katy Perry is said to be feeling “let down and humiliated” after her ex Orlando Bloom mocked her rumoured new romance with former Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, according to OK!.
The singer, 40, was first linked to the politician after they were spotted having dinner together in late July at Le Violon restaurant in Montreal, where they reportedly tucked into lobster and drank cocktails. Just two days later, Justin, 53, was snapped at Katy’s concert in the city, where he was seen dancing and singing along to her hit Firework.
However, Katy’s former fiancé Orlando, 48, appeared to take a swipe at the surprising new romance while commenting on a social media post. The post on satirical news site The Onion showed a mocked-up photo of Orlando sharing a romantic meal with retired German politician Angela Merkel. It comes after Danielle Lloyd was hospitalised in heartbreaking skin cancer update.

The picture showed the pair sitting at a candle-lit dinner table, with a faux caption alongside from an “insider” claiming, “Angela kept Orlando laughing all night – he couldn’t keep his eyes off her!” In response, Orlando posted a string of clapping emojis in the comments section below, which is said to have upset Katy.
A source claimed to new, “Katy feels very let down and humiliated by Orlando, but she’s also realising that he wasn’t the right person for her. He’s showing his true colours and it’s really very hurtful and spiteful to her, especially as it probably means the end of any possible friendship with him in future. They added, “She hoped they’d both be mature after the break-up so she’s feeling really disappointed.”
The pair confirmed the end of their on-off nine-year relationship in June, releasing a joint statement that insisted their priority would be co-parenting their four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom. The statement read, “Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry ’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.”
It continued, “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
Katy and Orlando first began dating in 2016 after bonding over burgers at a Golden Globes afterparty. They got engaged in 2019 and welcomed daughter Daisy in August 2020. Katy said of the British actor last September, “I have intense love with Orlando. It’s a beautiful love.”
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Katy told how counselling had helped them through previous rough patches. “We do a lot of couples therapy and we want to evolve,” she said. “That’s, I think, why we’re in our relationship – to become better humans so that we can raise this beautiful human being.”
Rumours their relationship was in crisis had been circling for months, with their troubles said to be compounded by Katy’s much-publicised Blue Origin space flight in April. Although Pirates Of The Caribbean star Orlando turned out with Daisy to support Katy at the Texas lift-off, he reportedly did not approve of her trip into space. The 11-minute voyage taken by an all-women crew of six sparked an international backlash, with critics calling out its environmental impact.
Things were said to have reached breaking point when Katy began The Lifetimes Tour in Mexico City nine days later. While on stage, she was seen crying as she sang her 2010 song Pearl with its lyrics, “I let him rule my world.”
In June, Orlando attended the star-studded Venice wedding of Amazon boss Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez alone. He also shared videos of himself solo as he sang along to Oasis at one of their recent Manchester shows.
It’s not the first time Katy and Orlando have gone their separate ways, and they split for almost a year in April 2017. At the time, Orlando said, “We’re friends, it’s good. We’re all grown up.” They got back together in early 2018, when they were seen holidaying in Prague.
However, in 2023 there were more signs of strain in their relationship. “Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands,” Orlando said in an interview. “Sometimes things are really, really, really, challenging. I won’t lie.”
Despite speculation from fans following Katy’s recent dinner date with Justin, the pair have not commented on the nature of their relationship. Justin and his ex-wife Sophie Grégoire, who have three children together, announced the end of their 18-year marriage in August 2023.
In an Instagram post, Justin wrote, “Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate.” He also stressed they share a “deep love and respect for each other”.
