Following Wilfried Nancy’s dismissal, Martin O’Neill will take over as manager for the remainder of the season at Celtic.

In the eight games that followed Brendan Rodgers’ exit in October, the 73-year-old won seven of those.

In the first few games, he replaced Nancy, who had already won just two out of eight games.

O’Neill told club media, “I’m really pleased, in fact, very honored to be asked back to manage the team once more, and I’m looking forward to working with the players once more.”

“I am aware that under Wilfried, things could have all worked out differently, and I personally wish him the best of luck with everything he does.” I have no doubt that he is a good man and that I am confident that he will continue to achieve success once more.

“I’ve been asked to take on this excellent job once more, and my goal is to return to winning ways if we can.” Everyone must be there for us.

Shaun Maloney, Mark Fotheringham, and Stephen McManus will assist O’Neill, who won seven titles with Celtic between 2000 and 2005.

Celtic, champions of 13 of the previous 14 seasons, are currently second in the Scottish Premiership, six points behind Hearts and ahead of Rangers in goals scored.

O’Neill helped them defeat Rangers in the League Cup final while Nancy was in charge of the semi-final defeat.

After taking over from Rodgers, the former Leicester City, Aston Villa, Sunderland, and Nottingham Forest boss won all five league games, with just one goal conceded.

Interim chairman Brian Wilson remarked, “We look forward with confidence to bringing Martin back to the club, giving the team real focus for the challenges that lie ahead.”

He has a reputation in football rivalless and a strong commitment to Celtic, as the players, staff, and supporters all know well.

“It’s top priority to return to winning ways, and I’d like to see unity within the stadium to make the best possible environment for the manager and team to start the fight back,” the statement read.

O’Neill stated the following day that he would “happily have stayed on” and that despite his interim status, “thankfully, I don’t think I messed it up.”

Dermot Desmond, the club’s principal shareholder, said: “We know exactly what he will bring and we hope that he can do what he has already done for us before, giving us that drive and direction as we move into the next part of the season.

We are all aware of his successful club history, and we sincerely hope he will continue to achieve this feat.
