
In a shooting incident in Omoku, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state, the Rivers State Police Command has confirmed that one person has been killed and eight others have been injured.
The incident took place along Sambo Street in Omoku on Monday morning, according to the police.
Around 7:00 a.m., a report from the Omoku Police Division revealed that the shooting occurred during a youth masquerade parade in the area.
Barrister Akpudi Ikechukwu and four members of the Nigeria Forest Guards Security Service allegedly engaged in a fight, according to the police. Nine members of the masquerade group were seriously hurt during the altercation.

Eight others are receiving treatment at the same hospital, with the exception of one of the victims, who has been identified as Obulo, who was later confirmed dead.
Barrister Akpudi Ikechukwu and two other suspects were detained and transferred to the state’s criminal investigation department for further investigation following the incident.
The police stated that preliminary investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the extent of each party’s guilt.
In order to ease tensions and stop the deterioration of law and order, the Area Commander has met with angry youths in the neighborhood. To ensure the safety of both people and property, a joint security patrol made up of police and military personnel has also been stationed in the area.
