With a four-wicket win over Hampshire, Jack Haynes’ 1997 kept Nottinghamshire’s chances of making it to the knockout stages of the One-Day Cup on track.
With eight balls left, the visitors chased down 291 at Southampton with the help of his 89-ball knock, which included 12 fours, and captain Haseeb Hameed’s 86 from 80 deliveries.
As a result of Nick Gubbins’ unbeaten 144 earlier in the day, his team posted 290-7 victory with a 14-4 and 4-6 victory.
With only two games left, Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire now trail second-placed Hampshire by two points after winning. This position kept them third in Group A.
With his 10th List A hundred and a career-best 144, also not out, made against Glamorgan in the tournament’s opening match, Gubbins appeared to be giving Hampshire a leg up for the knockout stage.
However, Hameed started the chase well, hitting eight fours and three sixes when Haynes fell in the 32nd over.

Both sides needed to win to maintain their quest for the knockout stage at Leicester.
Rishi Patel scored 94 off 119 balls, and Lewis Hill scored 93 from 95, sharing 166 for the second wicket, for the home side, who were sent in.
Derbyshire, six down, needed 16 from 14 balls, and Harry Came responded with a strong start with 67 at the top of the order.
However, after three wickets, Zak Chappell tripped over his bat while attempting a leg bye and was run out with one more run needed off the final ball.

After a fantastic 190-run victory over Glamorgan, Essex are two points ahead of the Foxes.
Tom Westley, the hosts’ fifth-highest List A total, came in for the hosts, who batted first at Chelmsford, with 141 balls from 113 balls and 131 from Charlie Atkinson, who also had 113 deliveries.
The third wicket was added by Westley and Atkinson, which was the highest stand ever recorded by the two teams in List A games.
After netting four wickets against Liverpool, Durham is still in contention to qualify for Group B.
Josh Bohannon and George Bell both hit 106 and 104, but Lancashire slightly lost ground when Ben Raine took 4-34 in the final over.
Alex Lees’ 64, which followed, gave the chase a strong start, before Will Rhodes’ 75 and unbeaten 80 from captain Ollie Robinson, who took the match, brought the visitors home.
