Before it hosts the 2027 Open Championship, St. Andrews’ Old Course will be lengthened by 132 yards as part of a revamp.
On the fifth, sixth, seventh, and tenth holes of the world-famous links, new championship tees will be added, with additions planned for the 11th and 16th holes.
As the R&, A, which organizes the game’s oldest major, wants to make sure “the Old Course continues to evolve and challenge the world’s best golfers, new bunkers will also be added to the sixth and the 10th.”
Other bunkers, such as the legendary 17th, the Road Hole, will be altered.
The changes, according to R&’s CEO Mark Darbon, are also crucial for “enhancing the experience of local and visiting golfers.”
