Ogun Govt Suspends Firms Over Alleged Lead-Acid Poisoning

Three environmental consulting firms have been suspended by the state’s Ogun State government for their negligence and culpability in the closed ULAB Recycling and Used Lead Acid Battery business allegedly causing acid battery pollution.

During a review meeting of the Process Audit of the closed companies held in the Conference Room of the Ministry of Environment, State Secretariat, Oke mosan Abeokuta, the Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, announced their suspension.

Among the environmental consulting firms are Saag Chemicals Nigeria Limited, Vyne Nurt Limited, Core Environmental Services Limited, and &nbsp.

The three environmental consulting firms that were affiliated with the ULAB companies, according to the commissioner, were found guilty during the audit process.

He noted that the audit had established that some of the pollution abatement devices that these businesses were installing were misplaced because the consulting firms failed to accurately report the situation to the state government, demonstrating professional negligence.

“Review of the firm’s reports on the companies during the audit process revealed that their reports failed to accurately represent the situation to the state government. Five consulting firms were invited to speak on the reporting gap to gain a clearer picture, he said.

The three suspended firms deliberately dissipated from the review meeting knowing utterly well that they are complici, while two of the environmental consultancy firms were able to provide some explanations, which were not entirely satisfactory but were given the opportunity to change their ways. t”
