Colombo hosted the ICC Women’s World Cup.

Pakistan 92-5 (25 overs): Aliya 28* (52), Tahuhu 2-20

New Zealand: Did not bat.

No end result

After the rain-related suspension of their match against New Zealand, Pakistan are on the verge of being eliminated from the World Cup.

The bottom team of the tournament has lost two of its previous five games and is yet to win.

Pakistan struggled in this match, falling to England at 92-5 at the 25-over mark, before the covers finally started to go on.

All of Pakistan’s and the majority of Sri Lanka’s fixtures are held at the R. Premadasa Stadium, but this one is the fourth of nine matches that have been staged there without a result. Colombo has been a source of rain, with this one being the fourth.

Even with only two group games to play, Pakistan will not be able to reach the knockout stages if India beat England on Sunday.

Pakistan will still need to defeat South Africa and Sri Lanka in order to win, and they must hope that many of their matches turn out in their favor.

Meanwhile, New Zealand moves to within four points of India’s fourth-place finish with a Thursday meeting between the two teams.

After winning the toss, Sophie Devine ordered her team to bowl, and New Zealand took Omaima Sohail and Muneeba Ali from the series four balls to make it 2-0 for Pakistan in the seventh over.

Sidra Amin then cut Lea Tahuhu’s Eden Carson off, with the players immediately rushing off in the rain.

Natalia Parvaiz went to Devine for a touchdown after 90 minutes, and Melie Kerr caught Fatima Sana off Carson’s bowling.

What they said was “extremely frustrating.”

Sophie Devine, the skipper of New Zealand, said: “We had a little hope after the South Africa game the other day, and they were off the field for five hours before coming back. We simply needed the rain to stop, but it didn’t happen today.

Let’s be honest, it’s “extremely frustrating.” You have to endure the rain for four years before winning a World Cup.

“I hope they consider playing earlier in the day in future editions.” Play at 10 or 11 as the rain has come in the evening. It’s a real shame for me to be scuppered by rain for the game.

Fatima Sana, the captain of Pakistan, said, “We need to improve our batting.” We’ll make an effort to win the next two matches and help us close the tournament strong.
