
In Maiduguri, the state capital of Borno state, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has seize four vehicles that transport broken telecom towers to the state capital.
In addition to the development, it also made 10 arrests.
The incident took place between December 8 and December 11, 2025, according to the Commandant of NSCDC in Borneo state, Ahmed Bello-Gaya.
His Excellency, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, reportedly imposed a statewide ban on scrap metal dealings in order to stop the activities of “ajakuta” (metal scavengers), who have caused extensive damage to public and private property over the years.

He continued, “The ban, which was announced while I was in Bulumkutu, covers all 27 local government areas and is against any informal, unregulated metal recovery operations.
The Borno State anti-vandal unit has been reorganized and revitalized in accordance with the Commandant General’s ” Renewed Hope ” agenda.
He claimed that the unit’s recent actions on December 8 and 11 caused ten (10) suspects to be arrested and four (4) separate seizures.

The NSCDC Commander stated that the organization’s main goals are to prevent the vandalism and sabotage of oil pipelines, power lines, and telecom facilities while thanking his staff.
