England international Alex Hales will not play in the Vitality Blast this summer, according to Nottinghamshire.

Hales, 36, is the club’s all-time T20 run-scorer with 4, 285 and he has won five titles across different formats, having made his debut in the format 17 years ago.

Instead, he’ll play for the Knight Riders’ franchise in both the Caribbean Premier League and Major League Baseball.

“Returning to Trent Bridge has always been something I’ve been looking forward to,” Hales said, “having spent more and more time playing around the world in recent years.”

“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to return this season given the current state of the global game as well as my recent move abroad.

I’ll be watching the boys from a distance, and I’m hoping to return someday.
