Norris sets pace in US Grand Prix practice

Lando Norris, a McLaren driver, was separated from Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg’s team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri in practice for the US Grand Prix.

At the start of a sprint weekend at the Circuit of the Americas, Norris led Piastri by 0. 279 seconds after trailing the Australian by 22 points at the race.

Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin finished second, trailing Alex Albon of Williams and Max Verstappen of Red Bull.

At 22:30 BST, this session was the only one before sprint qualifying.

For the first lap of the Singapore Grand Prix, McLaren has stated that Norris will face “consequences” from the collision that occurred between him and Piastri.

Although it has emerged that those repercussions will be of a sporting nature, and they will be comparatively minor, fitting the scale of the incident, they have not disclosed what they will be.
