The eldest of Noel’s three children, Anaisa, described how she tried TV presenting and secured a role on a CBBC show before having her first encounter with “nepo-baby-ism.”
Noel Gallagher’s daughter has disclosed the “harsh” comments she received from a BBC producer after securing a television role. In a recent chat, photographer and model Anaïs Gallagher, the oldest of Noel’s three offspring (along with Sonny and Donovan Gallagher), revealed how being the daughter of a music icon has affected her career.
When she began working, Anaïs revealed that she tried her hand at TV presenting and even secured a spot on a CBBC programme. However, she would quickly face her initial encounter with what was described as “nepo-baby-ism”.
The term ‘nepo baby’ (short for ‘nepotism baby’) refers to a person who has personally benefited from the success and station of their parents, whether they are powerful or famous.
“I was 12 or 13,” Anas told Grazia magazine. The show’s producer said, “You have to be really good, you can’t mess up,” before I went on. People will say that you were only on the show because of your father, “”
Anas’ apparent innocence as Noel’s daughter suggests otherwise. She continued, “I believe it was fair. It was harsh but entirely accurate. She continued to say that she was “massively in denial” and “pushed against it” at first when she touched on the subject.
Nevertheless, after attending Camberwell College of Arts to pursue art photography, Anaïs went on to confess that she became “really embarrassed” about her “privilege” and chose not to reveal her father’s identity.
Yet, her stance on the matter has mellowed now. Indeed, Anaïs admitted that she’s “not delusional” and is aware that Noel has aided her “immensely”, divulging that she never had to get a part-time job in her younger years.
She continued to say that her father would buy her a new camera if she ever needed one. She also expressed her gratitude.
She even went so far as to describe him as a “cool dad” before making up her views on him with some of the people’s parents, who she might consider to be “a horrible Tory politician or something.”
Noel and Meg Mathews, the couple’s biological child, and Anas was born in 2000. They split up in 2001.
As part of her modelling career, she has worked with Reebok, H&M, Dolce & Gabbana and Accessorize.
Meanwhile, her formal education in photography has been put to good use, as she’s spent time documenting her dad’s tour with his side-project band, the High Flying Birds, and has reportedly shot behind-the-scenes on film sets.
