Nightclub Fire In North Macedonia Kills At Least 50

At least 50 people were killed in a fire that broke out at a nightclub in North Macedonia where more than a thousand people had gathered for a concert, according to state news agency MIA on Sunday.
According to MIA, “at least 50 people died in a discotheque in Kocani,” a town that is located about 100 kilometers (60 miles) east of the capital Skopje, where “environ 1, 500 people attended a concert.” The Balkan state’s authorities could not immediately confirm this information with AFP.

The fire reportedly broke out in “Pulse,” a nightclub in the small, bounded by around 30 000 people, during a concert by DNK, a hip-hop duo renowned around the country.

Young people were primarily present at the concert, which started at midnight on Sunday.
More than 100 people were injured, citing rescue sources, according to online media outlet SDK, who reported the fire started at 3 am (UTC).

The injured were either transported to Stip, a village about 30 kilometers south of the town, or to the nearby Kocani hospital.
According to local media, the fire was most likely brought on by the use of pyrotechnic devices.
