A peace agreement between Tiv and Fulani tribes in Taraba State’s Gassol Local Government Area was facilited by the Commander 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa.
The state’s efforts to promote peaceful coexistence among its various communities are reflected in the peace pact’s signing, which emphasizes the value of nonkinetic measures in resolving conflicts and strengthening relations with the state.
Following rising tensions and unresolved communal disputes between the Tiv and Fulani ethnic groups, the meeting was held at the 6 Brigade Headquarters Conference Room in Jalingo to discuss a sustainable course to peace.
The Brigade commander warned against breaking the law while holding the meeting. He also criticized the violent cycle.
He emphasized that no one or entity is required by the Constitution to carry out justice outside the law’s bounds.
All parties should serve as peace-promoting agents of development in their communities, according to Captain Olubodunde Oni, the acting assistant director of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army Public Relations.

He argued that a sense of coherence and mutual respect is the only way to achieve true security, growth, and prosperity.
The parties involved in the conflict agreed to support stability, encourage regular dialogue, and refrain from using their neighborhoods as a shield for criminal activity.
They pledged to provide timely information to security agencies and work together to stop conflict from re-emerging.
Abubakar Usman, the council’s chairman, praised the 6 Brigade Commander for initiating the peace process in the name of the Gassol communities. He praised the sacrifices and persistent efforts made by the Nigerian Army to keep peace and stability in the area, particularly the troops in the 6 Brigade.
