Niger Gov Condoles With Shiroro Residents Following Boat Mishap

The recent boat accident that occurred on the way to the Zumba community market, which left many lives lost and goods destroyed, has left Shiroro Local Government Area residents with his sincere condolences.

The governor described the boat accident as unfortunate, disheartening, and worrying in a condolence message sent through Bologi Ibrahim, his chief press secretary.

Despite numerous efforts made by relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of both federal and state governments, including the N-HYPPADEC, to stop the negative trend, he expressed concern about the recurring capsizing of boats in the riverine communities of Niger State.

In a Niger boat accident, there were 13 dead and 26 people saved.

However, the governor argued that the governor’s administration will continue to work toward improving water transportation safety.

He argued that riverine communities should make every effort to adhere to the regulations for their safety even though the government is putting in place the government’s policies on safe water transportation through the relevant MDAs.

The governor applauded the Niger State Emergency Management Agency’s (NSEMA) management, local divers, and community volunteers who are conducting the search and rescue operations.
