The Mirror examines the complex legal battles wife Nicola Peltz has had to contend with over the years as Brooklyn Beckham addresses his incredible statement in a jaw-dropping statement about his family feud.

Brooklyn Beckham, Brooklyn’s eldest son, reportedly slammed a verbal grenade in the most popular Instagram story of 2026, sparking a significant upheaval in the last 24 hours.

After navigating a number of very public dramas of her own, including legal battles, Nicola Peltz’s wife is likely to be present to offer some words of wisdom to the photographer-turned-chef. For some time, there have been whispers of a rift between 26-year-old Brooklyn and his famous parents, David and Victoria Beckham, but both sides have remained relatively quiet – in public at least.

Brooklyn has now publicly expressed his frustration with Nicola, 31, and defends her in an ostensible statement. He has taken on “Brand Beckham” and made it clear that he is not alone. Brooklyn made it known that a family reunion won’t be possible soon by stating, “I do not want to reconcile with my family.” I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life. My parents have controlled our family’s narratives in the media for my entire life. My life was made up of performative social media posts, family events, and unauthentic relationships.

As fans digest the eye-popping bombshells from Brooklyn’s battle cry, the Mirror takes a look at Nicola’s legal conundrums away from House Beckham, from startling nanny claims to the sad deaths of her much-loved dogs.

feudal wedding planner

Brooklyn claims that his and Nicola’s 2022 wedding was stymied a little by mum Victoria’s alleged “hacking” of their first dance, which he claims made him feel “uncomfortable and humiliated” on what should have been his most memorable day of his life.

The buildup was also reportedly far from rosy. Nicole and any future children they may have had an impact from the fact that his mother “cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour,” meaning she was forced to find another gown at the last minute.

There were allegedly a few bumps on the way to the altar on the Peltz side, with Nicola and her billionaire father Nelson Peltz fighting it out with the planners for a while.

Nicola reportedly cycled through three event organisers after two couldn’t meet the “scale” of the celebration she’d hoped for, while Nelson sued his daughter’s second organisers, Plan Design Events, claiming they’d failed to return a $159, 000 (£125, 000) deposit following their dismissal, nine days after they were hired. The team “seriously misrepresented their abilities and skills, and in fact, lacked the necessary skills to perform,” says Nelson.

Then Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba of Plan Design Events countered the “breach of contract” by disclosing hundreds of texts that, according to them, contained “unreasonable” demands from the Peltzs. These documents, obtained by the Daily Mail, claim that Nelson was behaving like a “billionaire bully”, who became so frustrated with the planning process that he wanted to cancel the wedding altogether.

However, his wife, Claudia Peltz, argued that this course of action would “destroy Nicola’s career,” so the star-studded oceanfront wedding in Florida was held with a 600-strong guest list that included Gordon Ramsay, Serena Williams, and Eva Longoria.

Then, in September 2023, all involved parties announced the lawsuit had come to an end, with all claims dismissed. In a joint statement given to People magazine, they shared: “The parties believe that this contract dispute between Nelson Peltz and Plan Design should be resolved on the terms agreed. As part of the settlement, PDE will make a donation in the name of Nicola and Brooklyn to the CARE Ukraine Crisis Fund. PDE wishes Nicola and Brooklyn Peltz Beckham happiness and a fruitful life together.”

‘ Threatening ‘ maids

Because Nicola and I chose to include my Nanny Sandra and Nicola’s Naunni at our table because they both didn’t have their husbands, my mother, according to Brooklyn, even went so far as to call me “evil” during the wedding planning. Both of our parents had their own tables equally adjacent to ours”. Not only has Nicole faced criticism of her character on numerous occasions.

Nicola was the subject of egregious allegations that she had abused and “threatened” staff members of the Peltz household “as a sport” before she entered the whirlwind of “Brand Beckham.” According to Your Tango, a source told Gawker at the time: “Peltz’s youngest daughter routinely threatens maids that she will have her father fire them if they don’t do as she asks. She rarely rolls a bluff. Two beefy bodyguards reportedly escorted the girl’s final nanny out of the house after she reportedly decided she didn’t care much for her.

At the time of these reports, Nicola would have only been 13 or 14 years of age. Housekeeping recruiter Adrian Barrie Smith came forward with the vehement defense of the allegations after the Peltz lawyers intervened and the family’s contract was breached.

claims of nanny abuse

The rumor that Nicola had pushed her beloved nanny, Maria Rosalina ‘Gina’ Sampaio, down the stairs was one that was particularly devastating. Gina’s family categorically refutes this claim. Gina first started working for the Peltzes as a maid in 1985, and she later took care of Nelson and Claudia’s second child, William, after his birth in 1986. Following her death in 2020, at the age of 92, Gina’s nephew Helio Nelo came forward to say that the claims about Nicole just weren’t true.

Helio told the Daily Mail: “I was very surprised by these stories. But most of all, about Nicola pushing Gina down the stairs. It’s not true.” He added: “‘The relationship, it was like she adopted them or they adopted her, like they were family. The relationship was amazing. Gina was like a mother to Nicola, and she was like her daughter.

The heiress reportedly visited Gina in Brazil after her retirement, sometimes twice a year, and filled her apartment with the roses she cherished the most on her birthday. Sadly, sadly, the Bates Motel star’s birthday also coincided with Gina’s passing, which was the subject of Nicola’s touching tribute to her. Sharing photos of herself and her nanny, Nicola wrote:” Gina was a second mother to me, my love for her was never-ending]and] overflowing. Gina also had her name tattooed on his arm, which was obvious because Brooklyn knew her.

Deaths from Chihuahuas

In a lawsuit filed in 2024 against a New York pet grooming business alleging negligence in the deaths of two of her beloved dogs, claiming that the groomer who handled her chihuahua, Nala, who tragically passed away shortly after an appointment, was also to blame for the death of her French bulldog, Frankie, in 2021.

According to Nicola, prior to their grooming sessions with HoundSpa LLC and groomer Jony Ceballos, both of these dogs had been healthy. In her suit, The Last Airbender star accused Ceballos of “intentional and malicious abuse of dogs,” claiming Nala had been “a healthy, happy dog” who returned home “in severe physical distress.”

Nala’s veterinary records revealed neurological issues as well as fluid in her lungs. She had her chest pulsing, chest pulsing, and hyperventilating, according to Nicole. “She was in serious physical distress. “Heartbreakingly, the pup died mere hours later, leaving Nicola devastated.

In this lawsuit, Nicola claimed that after Nala’s tragic passing, her other dog, Angel, started screaming and shaking when she was left alone. In addition, she discovered that Frankie had also shown signs of trauma after Ceballos groomed her. According to the lawsuit, “Frankie was clearly in physical distress when he returned from his grooming with Ceballos, and he repeatedly stumbling as if he had been sedated.”

Neurologists later discovered fluid in Frankie’s brain, part of which began to collapse. The pooch eventually had to have his eye removed before passing away a few months later. According to the lawsuit, “Nicola cried and took care of her dog,” but she didn’t initially suspect that someone who was in charge of that responsibility would have caused harm to him.

Nicola also accused the groomer of mishandling her brother’s dog, Banksy, by allowing medicated shampoo to get into the animal’s eyes despite repeated warnings”. She asserted that he “rushed” the conversation and showed obvious frustration. After that, it was said that Banksy’s eyes had reddened and rubbed, and that they had pus coming out.

While complaints were made, no action was taken at the time by HoundSpa’s owner, Deborah Gittleman. Then in May 2025, the Mail Online reported that Nicola had hired attorney to the stars Marty Singer – known as ‘Mad Dog’ in Hollywood – to take the case to court. The New York Supreme Court ordered both sides to turn over key documents, including Nala’s autopsy and the company’s insurance policies, and also ordered Nicola to appear for a deposition before October 30 of that year.
