The NFL will return to Munich to play regular-season games in both 2026 and 2028.

Germany has staged five games over the past four seasons, with Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena hosting in 2022 and 2024.

Berlin had its first game last month, and the NFL will also return to the German capital in 2027 and 2029.

Alexander Steinforth, general manager of NFL Germany, told BBC Sport “I think we’ll have a good mix of two cities going forward”, and the league has now confirmed a similar multi-year partnership with Munich.

Germany has the largest American football fanbase in Europe, with more than 20 million fans, according to the NFL.

More than 40,000 young athletes have also taken part in the NFL’s flag football programme since it was launched in Germany in 2020, before the sport makes its Olympic debut in 2028.

“Our stadium has established itself on the world map of sports with its modern infrastructure, unique atmosphere, and the enthusiasm of Munich fans,” added Jurgen Muth, managing director of Allianz Arena.

“Over the years, the NFL at the Bayern Munich stadium has evolved into a significant attraction, drawing crowds from both Germany and around the world.”
