West Ham appoint Guarino as manager

Following Rehanne Skinner’s dismissal, West Ham’s women’s Super League side has appointed Rita Guarino as manager.

Guarino has signed an 18-month contract, which means she will start her first management position outside of Italy.

She previously helped Juventus win four successive Serie A titles, leading Inter Milan between 2021 and 2024.

The 54-year-old has also been Italy’s Under-17 head coach.

West Ham fired Skinner on Thursday after only one of their 11 Women’s Super League games this year.

“I’m thrilled to be playing for West Ham. It has a rich history and strong values that echoed my own, according to Guarino.

Guarino, a relative stranger in England, was a brave choice by West Ham.

As the Hammers attempt to move up the WSL table, one of her top priorities will be to navigate the January transfer window. They are currently two points ahead of Liverpool in terms of second place.

“I want to create a team that is organized, aggressive with the ball, and makes an effort to recognize and utilize space.” The most crucial aspect of the team’s mentality, togetherness, and hard work, she continued.

Sam Thompson rages at humiliating Gladiators special – ‘I was stitched up’

https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article36439301.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/1_Sam-Thompson-is-one-of-the-famous-faces-taking-on-the-Gladiators-in-this-years-Christmas-special.jpg

In this year’s Christmas special, the Made in Chelsea star will take on the Gladiators.

Sam Thompson would rather “eat a bucketload of kangaroo balls” than do Celebrity Gladiators again. The Made in Chelsea star is one of the famous faces taking on the Gladiators in this year’s Christmas special, airing on Christmas Day, and he admitted that if given the choice, he’d opt to return to the jungle before going head-to-head with Giant, aka Jamie Christian-Johal for another round.

Sam, winner of I’m a celebrity, get me out of here! he joked that he was “stitched-up” in the recognizable high-octane arena in 2023. Models Vogue Williams and Nicola Adams are also guests of the festive special.

Sam claimed to prefer to eat a kangaroo ball bucketload over taking him everywhere this week.

Giant hits you over the head with a stick, according to legend. I think I was a little stitched up. He is enormous. The name serves as the answer.

“I literally went, Oh, no! when he came out,” I said. While I was hitting him, he was just laughing at me. My soul was without hope.

But Sam didn’t feel like a “loser” because he came away from the show with a new friend in fellow contestant Joe Wicks. Joking about best pal Pete Wicks, he said of Joe: “We’re brothers in arms. There’s no losers because he just takes me with him. It’s great.

I’ve got too many Wickses in my life right now, so I’ve got to have another one. However, Pete is always in love with me because he is aware of that.

We produced a short video for Pete, and I joked that there was a new Wick in town.

“Sometimes, when I’m out, people mistake me for Pete Wicks.” They say, “Peter, it’s so lovely to see you!”

I’m like, “No, you’ve got the wrong Wicks,” I’m like. He must be thinking the same thing about me, he seems to.

Sam is planning a trip to the park next year after being crowned King of the Jungle for a busy few years. He responded, “I’m possibly slowing down a little bit. So I suppose I could take a little time off in 2026 to regroup and just enjoy life a little bit.

Sam’s appearance on the ITV show comes after he revealed he needed therapy following his break-up with Zara McDermott. The popular pair split up after five years together last Christmas.

Sam has acknowledged the difficulties he faced as the pair separated, despite the reports that the separation was amicable and a mutual decision following a difficult year. Sam acknowledged that he doesn’t talk about his past with Zara “out of politeness” when speaking alongside his best friend Pete Wicks.

He told Mail Online: “I respect that we’ve both kept it that way. But I don’t know one person who enjoys going through a break-up. I needed therapy to help me process that change in my life.

“I worked so hard last year, and I a little neglected myself and my friends and family.” One of the key takeaways was to allow myself some time; otherwise, you run the risk of getting sick.

Talitha Balinska, a DJ, and Sam is currently dating. The pair first met during a photo shoot in 2023 before rekindling contact at one of his arena shows earlier this year. After Sam confirmed it to Pete on his podcast a few months after starting their relationship, the two officially started dating.

Meanwhile, Zara has moved on with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson. She shared her first photo online with the singer earlier this month.

BBC’s Jo Whiley says ‘it just does not feel right’ as she makes home life admission

https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article36439746.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/0_PA-29453883.jpg

Jo Whiley, the hostess of BBC Radio 2, has revealed how she will spend the holidays at home with her family, husband Steve Morton, and their children.

BBC Radio 2 star Jo Whiley says husband Steve Morton wants to do something that “just does not feel right” over the festive period. Jo and Steve have been married for more than three decades and share four children together.

The pair first met when music producer Steve hired a band to play on Jo’s radio show. She claims that the two share similar interests and “genuinely enjoy each other’s company.”

Although the couple do like to make sure they are “not in each other’s pockets”. On her Dig It podcast with former Radio 2 presenter Zoe Ball, Jo admits there is one thing the couple disagree on however.

The 60-year-old says her family is split on what to do on Christmas Eve. She explained: “We have an on-going debate about what we have on Christmas Eve.

The kids have started saying, “Mom, it’s a little too much, we have potatoes Christmas Eve, we have potatoes Christmas Day,” while there are occasionally friends who have a little bit of a meal.

We’re all like, “No, you cannot have a curry at Christmas time, because it just doesn’t feel right,” says Steve, disco Steve, “Steve, disco Steve, he just wants a curry on Christmas Eve.”

Zoe mentioned that she has known some friends who avoid cooking by going out for a meal on Christmas Day. However, Zoe, who lives with her 14-year-old son Woody and daughter Nellie with her ex-husband Norman “Fastboy Slim” Cook, claims to frequently cook at home on Christmas Eve.

She continued, “I have friends who celebrate Christmas with a curry.” They simply opt for a curry, and nobody has to cook it. It’s actually quite an inspiring idea.

“My family always makes ham,” my mother says. I actually did my first ham last year, and the trick is always to dig into the ham you’ve soaked in treacle or Coca-cola or whatever you’ve done on Christmas Eve.

Zoe says her family have also floated the idea of having a pie on Christmas Eve, but concedes that it can “feel a bit heavy” ahead of Christmas dinner. The star, who earlier this month quit her Radio 2 show, says she “quite likes picky bits” ahead of the main festivities.

Zoe presented her final Saturday show this weekend with former Big Brother presenter Emma Willis set to take over in January. Delivering an emotional goodbye, she said: “It’s just time for me to say thank you so much for listening on Saturday afternoons. Don’t forget to look after the gorgeous Emma Willis when she joins you in the New Year.”

Before concluding with “Merry Christmas, love ya,” Chris Rea’s Driving Home For Christmas came on as her final song, she then said, “Huge respect” to her listeners for their support.
