Amanda Holden has showcased a stunning Greek home that once featured in a popular ITV drama. Nestled on the coastline of Corfu, this villa can accommodate up to 10 guests and is ideal for a summer holiday in Europe.

Posting to her Instagram Story yesterday, Amanda revealed just how much she and her daughter, Hollie, also nicknamed ‘HRH’, loved the show it featured in. “If you know you know,” she wrote on Sunday.

“The Durrells… @ionianestates.” The TV star also added: “Me and #HRH were big fans of The Durrells. TV show.” Airing from 2016 to 2019, The Durrells was a popular ITV comedy-drama about a British family adjusting to life on the Greek island of Corfu in the 1930s.

It’s loosely based on a true story, following Gerald Durrells’ Corfu Trilogy, with the ITV series primarily filmed in the village of Danilia. It starred an array of famous faces, including Keeley Hawes as Louisa Durrell.

Earlier this month, luxury holiday estate agent Ionian Estates also revealed several picturesque photographs of the property in an Instagram carousel. Its spokespeople said the home has five bedrooms and a private pool, offering a ‘perfect spot to unwind’.

The post read: “Sleeping up to 10 guests and situated right on the seafront, this five-bedroom villa with private pool is the perfect spot to unwind, explore and soak up the laid-back rhythm of Corfu life.”

It is currently unclear how much it costs to spend a night at The Durrell property, but Ionian Estates has been approached for further information.

Amanda’s post also comes just months after she revealed that her family were selling a £895,000 property on Rightmove. The ‘true rural gem’ – which is still up for grabs – is situated in Hersham, a hamlet south of Kilkhampton in Cornwall.

The TV star’s parents confessed they are giving it up ‘begrudgingly’ to be nearer family and friends. Commenting on a Rightmove advert, they said it’s just a five-minute drive from stunning sandy beaches and go-to spots like Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor.

“We are sad to leave this lovely home we have lived in for over 22 years,” Amanda’s family said, according to the Mirror. “We will miss the early morning bird song and the gorgeous vistas and spectacular sunsets from different viewpoints throughout our gardens.

BREAKING: Jennifer Aniston says Matthew Perry’s death is ‘for the better’ in bombshell admission

Actress Jennifer Aniston has opened about Friends co-star Matthew Perry following his death, admitting: “We did everything we could when we could.” Speaking to Vanity Fair, she added: “But it almost felt like we’d been mourning Matthew for a long time because his battle with that disease was a really hard one for him to fight. As hard as it was for all of us and for the fans, there’s a part of me that thinks this is better. I’m glad that he’s out of pain.”

Perry was found dead at his home in Los Angeles, aged 54, in 2023. He had died because of the “acute effects of ketamine” and subsequent drowning in his hot tub.

Perry has previously spoken about how Aniston reached out to him at the height of his substance abuse, helping him realise he had a problem. The actor recalled how the star, who played Rachel Green, approached him on set telling him: “We know you’re drinking”.

Perry told ABC News’ Diane Sawyer: “At the time I should have been the toast of the town, I was in a dark room meeting nothing but drug dealers and completely alone. [Aniston] was the one that reached out the most. He said her confrontation was a “scary moment”, adding: “I’m really grateful to her for that.”

Aniston is the cover of Vanity Fair for the second time. The previous occasion came following her divorce from Brad Pitt, in which she did a big sit-down chat. She says it was a “vulnerable time”.

She admits: “I haven’t looked at that article in forever. I just remember the experience of doing it—which was kind of jarring. It was also just a vulnerable time. But yeah, that was one for the memoirs. Journalism back then felt more like a form of sport. There’s obviously some PTSD we all have, which is why these [interviews] scare me. How are they going to misinterpret my words or take something out of context?”She also admitted that she swaps stories with Gwyneth Paltrow about mutual ex Brad. “‘Oh, of course,’ Aniston says, ‘How could we not? We’re girls.’”

She also talked about rumours she was dating Barack Obama. “Of all the calls you get from your publicist…and then there’s that,” she said.

Aniston revealed that she knows Michelle Obama better than she does the former president and even saw her somewhat recently. “I was lucky enough to have dinner with Michelle a month ago,” she says, and that the rumour “wasn’t even brought up” during their time together. “I don’t think anyone really pays attention to reports like that if you’re the subject of them.”

Opening up about her drive to find success, she says it was to impress her father. “‘Always wanting to get Pop’s approval—it was the thing that drove me and was also my biggest heartbreak: Trying to impress and prove your value to a man who’s only capable of so much.’ She felt that if she made it as an actor, ‘then he will love me as much as I love him.’”

Ebonyi People Unhappy with Nwifuru Over Radio Manager’s Suspension – Analyst

The suspension of Godfrey Chikwere, General Manager of Legacy FM, has sparked discontent among Ebonyi State residents, with many accusing the state government of stifling press freedom.

“Even from the reaction of trending on social media, Ebonyi people are not happy with the suspension,” a political analyst Charles Otu said on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief programme on Monday.

“They feel that the suspension was because of the pressure put by the government on the radio station,” he said.

Otu said the public outcry following the action reflected growing dissatisfaction with how Governor Francis Nwifuru handles criticism.

“I was a guest in the interview last week Friday with Godfrey Chikwere, the general manager of Legacy FM based in Ebonyi. It is a privately owned radio station and regularly from time to time they invite discussants to discuss topical issues around the nation, particularly as it concerns Ebonyi,” Otu stated.

He explained that the conversation during the programme focused on “issues of governance, issues of administration, issues of lack of communication, issues about the governor giving a command and then going back not to follow up on the issues or commands he has given.”

The discussion also touched on how “every week, one sad news, one person is trying to make the government look so unserious before very critical-minded minds.”

Otu said he was shocked to see a press statement from the government, alleging that Chikwere had “gone overboard” and calling for his sanction. The statement also claimed the government had been “sponsoring the private station” with equipment such as a generator and transformers.

Otu described as “petty” and a “direct attack” on Chikwere, the action of the government that led to the suspension of the general manager.

He warned that the move raised concerns about freedom of the press, stressing that Section 22 of the 1999 Constitution mandates the media to hold the government accountable.

India’s opposition protests against electoral roll revision

India’s opposition parties have held a protest demanding the rollback of a revision of the voter list in the eastern state of Bihar, where elections are scheduled for its legislature in November.

Hundreds of lawmakers and supporters began Monday’s protest from parliament and were confronted by police who stopped them from marching towards the Election Commission office in the capital, New Delhi. Police briefly detained dozens of lawmakers, including the leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi.

“This fight is not political but for saving the constitution,” Gandhi, who is an MP from the Indian National Congress party, told reporters after being detained.

“The truth is before the entire country,” he added.

More than 200 people took part in the protest, according to police officials quoted by the NDTV channel.

India’s opposition accuses the Election Commission of rushing through a mammoth electoral roll revision in the eastern state of Bihar, saying the exercise could render vast numbers of citizens unable to vote.

Gandhi last week said the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar is an “institutionalised chori [theft] to deny the poor their right to vote”.

The revision of nearly 80 million voter registrations

The revision affecting nearly 80 million voters involves strict documentation requirements from citizens, triggering concerns it could lead to the exclusion of vulnerable groups, especially those who are unable to produce the paperwork required to prove their citizenship.

Some of the documents required include birth certificates, passports and matriculation records.

Critics and opposition leaders said they are hard to come by in Bihar, where the literacy rate is among the lowest in India. They said the exercise will impact minorities the most, including Muslims, and bar them from voting.

India does not have a unique national identity card. The widely used biometric-linked identity card, called Aadhaar, is not among the documents listed by the Election Commission as acceptable proof for the electoral roll revision.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s ruling Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called the opposition leaders’ protest a “well-thought-out strategy” to create a “state of anarchy”, the NDTV reported.

‘Intensive revision’ needed, Election Commission says

The election body has denied the voter disenfranchisement allegations and has promised to ensure that no eligible voter is “left behind”. It has also said the “intensive revision” is a routine update needed to avoid the “inclusion of the names of foreign illegal immigrants”.

According to the commission, 49.6 million voters whose names were included in a similar exercise in 2003 are not required to submit any further documents. But that still leaves almost 30 million other voters potentially vulnerable. A similar roll revision of voters is scheduled to be replicated across the entire country of 1.4 billion people.

Bihar is a crucial election battleground where the BJP has only ever governed in a coalition. Election results there could likely impact the balance of power in India’s Parliament.

The BJP has backed the revision and said it is necessary to update new voters and delete the names of those who have either died or moved to other states.

It also claimed the exercise is essential to weed out undocumented Muslim immigrants from neighbouring Bangladesh. But many Indian citizens, most of them Muslims, have been arrested and even deported to Bangladesh as part of a campaign launched by the BJP.

Critics and opposition leaders have also warned that the exercise is similar to that of a 2019 citizenship list in eastern India’s Assam state, which left nearly 2 million people at risk of statelessness.

Many of those left off the final citizenship list were Muslims who were declared “foreigners”. Some faced long periods of detention.

Paul Gallagher will no longer perform an Oasis afterparty DJ set in Dublin ahead of his court appearance this month.

The older brother of Liam and Noel Gallagher was due to appear at The Grand Social this weekend to coincide with the Oasis reunion tour’s Dublin performances.

Police said in July that Paul Gallagher, 59, who lives in East Finchley in north London, had been charged with rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday August 27. A spokeswoman for The Grand Social venue confirmed to the PA news agency that Paul Gallagher “will no longer be DJing at our Oasis afterparty”.

“Mani from The Stone Roses will DJ on Saturday night and Alan McGee will DJ on Sunday,” she said. The promoters of the event, Up Close and Personal Promotions, have been contacted for comment.

Liam and Noel Gallagher announced last August that they would perform together for the first time since Oasis’s dramatic split in 2009.

The Oasis Live ’25 tour kicked off in Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in July, before moving on to Manchester, London and Edinburgh.
