Strictly Come Dancing confirms YouTube star George Clarke as sixth 2025 contestant

https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article35704624.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/1_Strictly-Come-Dancing-Logo.jpg

Strictly Come Dancing has revealed that YouTuber George Clarke is joining the line-up for its 2025 series. They became the sixth contestant to join this year’s cast, after EastEnders’ Balvinder Sopal was announced as a contestant on Good Morning Britain earlier today.

The YouTuber and podcaster boasts 678k followers on Instagram, and is known for his podcast The Useless Hotline with Max Balegde. He’s also built a thriving digital career with millions of followers across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.

“Never thought I’d say this… but I’m doing Strictly! Honestly, I’ve got no idea what I’m doing but I’m excited to get stuck in … and potentially fall over a fair bit,” George said on joining the hit show. It comes after reports of all the celebrities rumoured to be joining BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2025.

Speaking on Radio 1 George joked: “I feel like a lot of people will be saying who?” He then told the hosts it still “doesn’t feel real”.

The YouTuber then told hosts Sam MacGregor and Danni Diston that he’d been keeping the secret for around 2-3 months – and had to put his plans of a marathon on hold for the show.

We don’t have long until the new series of Strictly kicks off on BBC One and so the line-up reveal has begun, with the 2025 stars being slowly unveiled throughout the week. It began with Gladiators’ Harry Aikines-Aryeetey announcing he would be taking part on CBBC’s Newsround on Monday.

Later that evening, The One Show welcomed three Strictly stars onto its sofa – Love Island winner Dani Dyer, Doctor Who’s Alex Kingston and footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Appearing on The One Show last night, Dani said that Strictly will be “the second most amazing thing” she’ll have done this year after marrying footballer Jarred Bowen over the summer. “I feel very, very blessed and cannot wait to get my dancing shoes on,” she said.

Meanwhile, former premiership player turned football manager Jimmy said: “Swapping the pitch for the ballroom is certainly not something I’ve done before but I’m looking forward to tackling a fun challenge! Bring on a new type of footwork, with hopefully no own goals.”

Earlier this week, Strictly’s new professional dancer Julian Caillon confessed that he once staged a row on the show’s Australian version to stir up more drama. “Reality TV is not necessarily what you think,” he said on the podcast Try with Alex.

“A massive aspect of reality TV is not really real. I remember in one episode of Dancing With The Stars, one of my celebrities was late to rehearsals and the producers were asking me to go around and pretend that I was frustrated.”

It’s been a dramatic build-up for Strictly so far, with the show reportedly launching an investigation into claims that two of its stars took cocaine. A source told the Sun, following the breakout news: “The BBC is taking the allegations really seriously. Bosses are aware of the two stars in question and have a duty of care to make sure they’re OK.”

They added: “As per BBC policy, the option of specialised professional support is on the table and will be offered. While drug testing won’t happen on the main show, bosses are considering bringing in random checks for the tour next year.”

Morata criticises Galatasaray as loan ends early

Alvaro Morata says he had “no choice” but to give up part of his salary in order to leave Galatasaray, as the club failed to honour certain commitments.

The 32-year-old Spain captain joined the Turkish Super Lig club on loan from AC Milan in February, with an option to buy for 10m euros (£8.6m), but his contract was mutually terminated earlier this week.

Morata is now on the verge of securing another loan spell, this time with Italian Serie A side Como, who are managed by his former Chelsea team-mate Cesc Fabregas.

After thanking Galatasaray fans on Instagram for their “affection, warmth, and support”, Morata wrote: “Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about my experience with the club.

Morata signed for Milan last summer from Atletico Madrid on a four-year contract but was sent on a year-long loan in February to Galatasaray until January 2026.

The ex-Juventus and Real Madrid striker said he also had to forego other contractual rights he had already earned through his work, adding the figure Galatasaray published in their statement was not accurate.

“For me, in life and in work, there are principles that should never be broken, such as respect for each person’s rights,” added Morata.

“Failing to recognise and compensate what has been earned is, to me, unacceptable and contrary to the values of fairness and professionalism I believe in.

“I know these matters are often not spoken about openly, but I believe it is right to give the fans the real explanation of what happened.”

Taylor Swift fans have been thrilled today, August 12, after the hit Eras Tour star announced that her 12th studio album will be coming out soon. Talking on her boyfriend and his brother’s popular podcast, New Heights, early this morning, at 12.12am, she said her new record is called The Life Of A Showgirl.

She kept the album cover hidden, and the rest of the artwork has yet to be revealed, but we know this upcoming ‘Showgirl’ era will have a colourful theme of orange and green. Taylor Swift’s current profile picture on her social media accounts is a glittery orange padlock on top of a green background.

The official Taylor Swift store is already teasing fans with pre-orders, and the aesthetic features a warm, orange, autumnal glow with a hint of glitter. To mark the news of her upcoming album, numerous fashion retailers have dropped the price of their orange and green coloured garments. For instance, River Island has reduced the cost of several orange shirts, tops, dresses and shoes.

One particular piece of clothing perfectly matches Swift’s glittery orange padlock, and it has dropped in price considerably. The high-street store’s Orange Sequin Embellished Slip Midi Dress was £85, but it can now be purchased for just £35.

The dress features all-over sequins to create a glittery effect, much like the promotional art for ‘TS12’. Its bright shade of orange is also a fantastic match. The slip dress finishes just above the ankles and includes a cowl neckline.

Sizes vary from a UK size six to a 16. The model wearing the Orange Sequin Embellished Slip Midi Dress in the pictures online teams the gown with black strappy heels, a thick gold bracelet and gold earrings.

If you are looking to match Taylor Swift’s latest album, there are plenty of other orange and green items to consider besides River Island, such as this Never Fully Dressed sequin tank top co-ord that’s available on ASOS for £79. New Look is selling this AX Paris Green Printed Slit Hem Maxi Dress for £48. Another option for something a bit different is this rose gold plated Philip Jones Padlock Necklace with Zircondia Crystals for £9.99.

If you like the look of River Island’s £35 Orange Sequin Embellished Slip Midi Dress, it can be bought online and delivered to your door for an extra £4. However, delivery is free on orders over £65. There aren’t any reviews for the dress on River Island’s website, but for those keen for customer feedback, reading through reviews on Trustpilot may help.

On the website, one shopper who left a five-star review said: “Love River Island staff members and managers are so helpful and friendly l love their clothing and accessories brillant store hope the survive as the best shop on high street for great quality clothing shop nowhere else.”

Another said: “River island shoes and clothes are true to size and I only shop from River Island. I shop from River island at least twice a month.” A third put: “Great range of quality clothing. Sizing is accurate and store staff are always helpful. Love shopping here!”

However, some unimpressed shoppers left comments. One wrote: “Sizing is awful!!! I’m a size 10 normally so I ordered some high waisted shorts in a 10. Couldn’t get them to do up at all!! Ordered a 12 and the exact same thing!! Went straight back.”

A second said: “Products arrived in good order but I paid for a specific delivery day and this was not honoured.” A third claimed: “I used to like River Island but the last couple of times I’ve ordered clothes they have been sent stuffed into bags that are too small for the items and have had strong smells.”
