Gaza aid flotilla hit by drone attacks and explosions, activists say

The Global Sumud Flotilla, a convoy traveling to Gaza with pro-Palestinian activists carrying aid, reported hearing drone attacks and explosions from their boats off Greece late on Tuesday and the morning of Wednesday.

Without specifying whether there were any injuries, the Global Sumud Flotilla stated in a statement that “multiple drones, unidentified objects dropped, communications jammed, and explosions heard from several boats.”

“We are right now witnessing these psychological operations, but we won’t be intimidated,” he said.

Brazilian Organizer Tiago Avila posted a timeline of 10 attacks that involved multiple boats with sound bombs and explosive flares on his Instagram at midnight on Wednesday, wearing only a life jacket. Additionally, suspected chemicals were sprayed on them.

Greg Stoker, a US activist, claimed that Greg Stoker’s boat off the coast of Crete was also targeted.

A quadcopter dropped a little popper on the deck, assailing our boat. That was also experienced by a few other boats. Our very high frequency [VHF] radio was hacked by adversarial communications, and they immediately began playing Abba, he claimed on Instagram.

The flotilla’s alleged use of drones, explosions, or communications interference has not been made public by Israeli authorities.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier on Tuesday stated in a post on X that the sailing boats were “pursuing a violent course of action,” which “highlights the insincerity of the flotilla members and their mission to serve Hamas, rather than the people in Gaza.”

The ministry’s objections to the request from the flotilla to hand the aid to Israel so that it can be transferred to Gaza “in a coordinated and peaceful manner” via the nearby Ashkelon Marina.

Israel will make every effort to ensure the safety of its passengers if the flotilla continues to reject Israel’s peaceful proposal, including taking the necessary steps to stop any violations of a lawful naval blockade.

Avila referred to this as “manipulation from the Zionist regime.”

He wrote on his Instagram that “we can never believe an occupying force who is committing genocide that they will provide aid.”

The flotilla, which consists of 51 boats, set sail from the western Mediterranean Sea earlier this month in an effort to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza and provide aid for the area. Before resuming its journey to Gaza, it had already been the target of two suspected drone attacks in Tunisia, where its boat had been anchored.

Greta Thunberg, a prominent environmental activist, is one of the participants.

International activists claim to have organized the flotilla as a peaceful protest to raise awareness of Gaza’s humanitarian crisis.

Super Typhoon Ragasa kills 14 in Taiwan

In eastern Taiwan, a barrier lake burst its banks in response to the heavy rains Super Typhoon Ragasa, which has slashed Hong Kong with strong winds and waves, killing 14 people and leaving 124 others unaccounted for.

According to the Hualien County Fire Department, the majority of the victims were elderly and unable to escape Matai’an Creek Barrier Lake’s rising floodwaters on Wednesday.

According to the fire department, 34 people were hurt, and rescue efforts for the missing were in progress.

The lake, which was created by debris left over from previous rains, overflowed on Tuesday morning, according to Taiwan’s Central News Agency (CNA), followed by a much larger surge in floodwater at around 4: 30 pm local time (08: 30 GMT).

Fast-moving waters scurried through Guangfu Township’s video footage, dragging vehicles, and destroying a bridge.

According to the CNA, many people remained on their roofs until floodwaters receded, leaving behind mud and debris.

After a barrier lake bursts in Hualien on September 24, 2025, a portion of the bridge over Matai’an Creek is destroyed.

As it moved southward, Super Typhoon Ragasa swept Taiwan and its neighboring islands with strong winds and rain earlier this week.

According to the CNA, some areas of Hualien County on Taiwan’s rugged east coast experienced upwards of 700mm of rainfall, while towns in the south and east received 500-600mm of rain.

In a Facebook post late on Tuesday, Taiwanese President William Lai Ching-te announced that all government departments and the military were working together to assist with the cleanup and emergency response.

“Everyone must maintain vigilance,” According to Lai, all frontline disaster response personnel are advised to prioritize their own safety when performing their duties.

More than 160 flights to Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport were canceled on Wednesday morning, and some places had suspended ferry and rail lines.

In response to the typhoon, which started shutting down flights on Tuesday and headed to or from Hong Kong and Macau, the majority of cancelled flights were short-haul hops.

On Wednesday, Hong Kong’s weather officials issued their highest typhoon warning of “T10” and warned of potential landslides as the storm passed through the Chinese territory, which is located 150 kilometers (93 miles) southwest.

Ragasa put an end to life on the southern Chinese coast by hurling waves higher than lampposts onto Hong Kong promenades.

The Hong Kong Observatory noted the storm’s maximum “sustained” winds of 112-1153 km/h (70-95 mph) and maximum gusts of 184 km/h (114 mph) on Wednesday morning, but it was still expected to make an appearance as of 11am local time (03:30 GMT).

Typhoon warnings would still be in place, according to the HKO, because the storm’s effects were still being felt.

“Public officials should be on high alert and watch out for destructive winds.” The observatory predicted that today’s local weather will be persistently bad, with frequent heavy squally showers and thunderstorms.

“Seas will be absolutely fantastic with swells.”

More than 700 flights would be canceled as a result of the typhoon, according to the Hong Kong Free Press.

UN denies sabotage after escalator malfunctions when Trump steps on

After the White House suggested sabotage, the UN was forced to release a statement offering an innocent explanation for an escalator malfunction involving US President Donald Trump.

The US president and Melania Trump had to walk up an escalator shortly before Trump’s speech to the UN General Assembly on Tuesday when the stairway abruptly ceased.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt reacted to the incident, saying that any UN employee who was found to have purposefully stopped the escalator should be fired and subject to immediate investigation.

A screenshot of an article by The Times, where the British newspaper’s Washington editor, Katy Balls, claimed UN staff had made a joke about shutting off elevators and escalators so Trump “has to walk up the stairs,” Leavitt included in her post.

UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric responded to the outcry, citing the unintended consequence of a videographer from Trump’s delegation climbing the escalator ahead of the president and the first lady.

A built-in safety mechanism on the comb step was activated at the top of the escalator, according to a subsequent investigation, which included a readout of the machine’s central processing unit.

“The safety mechanism is intended to keep objects from getting caught in the gearing or getting pulled into it.” The videographer may have unintentionally activated the above-described safety feature.

Trump’s communications director Steven Cheung did not respond to a message asking for a response to the UN statement.

Trump himself made an appearance to take the incident personally, joked at the UN that the only thing he received from the international body was a “bad escalator and a bad teleprompter.”

Trump said, “She’s in great shape, but she’s in great shape,” which caused audience laughter.

“We’re both in good shape,” the statement goes.

Trump later addressed the incident once more in a post on Truth Social.

Trump wrote that the teleprompter was broken and the escalator abruptly slammed as we were ridding up the podium, but both of those things likely contributed to the speaker’s more engaging speech.

One star sign’s thoughts do not align with their partner’s, according to today’s horoscope for September 24, and another person’s hopes and dreams seem unusually vivid.

On September 24th, one star sign was instructed to slow down their thoughts rather than try to control or solve things.

There are 12 zodiac signs – Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces – and the horoscopes for each can give you the lowdown on what your future holds, be it in work, your love life, your friends and family or more.

These daily forecasts have been compiled by astrologer Russell Grant, who has been reading star signs for over 50 years. From Aries through to Pisces, here’s what today could bring for your horoscope – and what you can do to be prepared.

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 20)

When a relationship issue is brought up, do your best to avoid overreacting. Your partner’s thoughts might not be in line with yours. Ask yourself if you’ve picked up something incorrectly before saying anything you might regret.

Taurus (Apr 21 – May 21)

When you want to be stubborn, it might not work out today. You may need to be more aloof and open to interacting with others, which is required. All that is required to maintain harmony and foster successful relationships is this.

Gemini (May 22 – June 21)

You value engaging in both online and in-person conversations. You’ll want to get right to the heart of the issues facing us today. At least not at this time, you aren’t interested in light banter about the weather. You’re attempting to comprehend what motivates a person and what motivates them.

Cancer (June 22 – July 23)

You experience an inner rush of adventure. Why not try something novel and unique in order to quench these feelings? Make a trip plan. Visit a location you’ve never been before. Breaking out of your regular routine will improve your health.

Leo (July 24 – Aug 23)

Talks with female friends or coworkers will be more significant than you might think. These interactions may have a positive impact on how you approach a future goal. You might also receive advice on novel and unconventional ways and means of achieving your goals.

Virgo (Aug 24 – Sept 23)

Be present in your opinions and actions. You’ll be able to see how much your life is impacted by previous conditioning. You want to believe you are making your own decisions, but you might also feel pressured to do so by a trusted advisor who is in charge of your decisions.

Libra (Sept 24 – Oct 23)

You don’t know where it came from, but you now feel confident and inspired to speak out. Although it’s important to speak your mind, you could phrase your thoughts diplomatically if what you are about to say might offend someone.

Scorpio (Oct 24 – Nov 22)

You might have a strong impression that someone at work is trying to hurt your reputation. They’re saying things about you that you won’t like. The best course of action is to confront them head-on. Just make sure you’re informed before speaking with them.

Sagittarius (Nov 23 – Dec 21)

When you work alone and when you remain behind the scenes, you will perform the best. As you accept that these issues may require some adjustment, you might want to revisit those you have already addressed. The results are better the more organized you are.

Capricorn (Dec 22 – Jan 20)

What is actually happening in today’s communications might be difficult to predict. Reduce the speed at which you think. Listen instead of trying to figure out everything. In time, clarity and understanding will return. Be sure to note any message or idea that might be important.

Aquarius (Jan 21 – Feb 19)

Do everything necessary to maintain proper organization and cleanliness. Remove items that are no longer in use from your medicine cabinet. Organize your living or work space more effectively. When you don’t need to keep looking for tools, you’ll start seeing improvements.

Trump to ‘sue ABC’ as Kimmel returns to late-night TV post-controversy

https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/news/us-news/article35954543.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/0_gettyimages-501759358-612x612.jpg

Following a significant controversy that caused some ABC affiliates to stop airing Jimmy Kimmel’s show, Kimmel made a comeback appearance on late-night television on Tuesday.

President Donald Trump erupted on Tuesday after ABC announced Jimmy Kimmel would return to late-night television, accusing the broadcaster of backing Democrats and branding it a potential “illegal campaign contribution.”

In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump slammed ABC’s decision and reignited his ongoing row with Kimmel, who has frequently mocked him in his opening segments.

“I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back. The White House was told by ABC that his Show was cancelled! Something happened between then and now because his audience is GONE, and his ‘talent’ was never there,” Trump wrote. The news comes as Jimmy Kimmel Live: Late-night show returns despite Donald Trump’s scathing rant.

Why would they want a replacement who plays 99% positive Democrat GARBAGE and performs so poorly, isn’t funny, and puts the network in danger? He added that, to my knowledge, that would constitute a significant Illegal Campaign Contribution because he is yet another DNC arm.

He went on: “I think we’re going to test ABC out on this. Let’s see how we do. Last time I went after them, they gave me $16 million. This one sounds even more lucrative. A true bunch of losers! Let Jimmy Kimmel rot in his bad Ratings.”, reports the Irish Star.

Jimmy Kimmel Live made a comeback last night! following an indefinite suspension that had sparked discussion all over the country, on ABC, was officially reinstated. Following Kimmel’s most recent monologue on the program, where he accused “the MAGA gang” of trying to politicize Charlie Kirk’s murder, the drama began.

The backlash was severe because Sinclair and Nexstar, two significant ABC affiliates, “indefinitely” dropped Kimmel from the air.

Brendan Carr, the chair of the FCC, jumped in and warned of regulatory consequences if broadcasters continued to air the program without addressing his concerns.

Disney and ABC immediately faced criticism after thousands of Disney+ subscribers were canceled, and numerous celebrities and businesses demanded that Kimmel be reinstated.

The company met with Kimmel, assessed the damage, and announced the program would resume on Tuesday night in its regular slot amid the criticism, subscriber exodus, and censorship and free speech debates.

However, Sinclair decided to avoid airing the comeback episode on its ABC affiliates and instead to air news programming until the “discussions with ABC” are resolved.

This followed CBS’s decision not to renew Stephen Colbert for another series after his outspoken criticism of Donald Trump.
