After suffering a thigh issue, Paris Saint-Germain announced on Friday that club captain Marquinhos has become one of the growing number of big-name absentees.
PSG announced on their website that the 31-year-old Brazilian defender would be receiving treatment for a left thigh injury over the next few weeks.
Joao Neves and Desire Doue, as well as recent Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele, are both injured, and Luis Enrique’s side has suffered the most recent injury.

Marquinhos played the entirety of PSG’s last game, which ended with a 1-0 defeat to archrivals Marseille on Monday, in which case he added an own goal, but PSG did not specify when the center-half picked up the injury.
PSG did not respond right away when contacted by AFP.
Bradley Barcola, who had missed the team’s game against Marseille because of muscle fatigue in his thigh, was present at Friday’s training session ahead of PSG’s league game against Auxerre this weekend.
PSG travels to Lille for Ligue 1 action on October 5 before facing Barcelona at home on Wednesday for the Champions League.
At the 2025 World Rowing Championships in Shanghai, Great Britain won two gold medals, including the PR1 men’s single sculls and the men’s four.
The impressive performances of Daniel Graham, James Robson, Douwe de Graaf, and George Bourne, who were competing as a pair for the first time at this regatta, kept their impressive form as the new-look quartet defeated Romania and the Netherlands to take the men’s four podium.
As the Paralympic and European champion from beginning to end, Benjamin Pritchard continued to dominate the PR1 single sculls field, adding another gold to his collection.
After the race, Robson said, “We came here believing we could do it, but we wanted to concentrate on getting better each time we hit the water.”
In that final, we had a fantastic row. We’re just so happy to have crossed the line and accomplished it, even though it was a lot of work.”
Prior to winning the European Championship for the first time in Plovdiv earlier this year, Pritchard established a new Paralympic record at Paris 2024.
The Welshman’s statement, “This project is an undisputed success,” was true of his form.
I compete in the Paralympics, Europe, and World. I’ve broken world records for world championships, Paralympic records, and European records. I’ll be honest with myself about it all!
I wanted to leave quickly and take the lead, but I ended up holding on dearly. In those final five strokes, I was undoubtedly going to pass away.
“This place has a wild temperature.” It’s genuinely like in an inferno to row! My support staff and I have done a lot of heat preparation in the UK, which has been fantastic. You won’t be prepared for these circumstances, though. This is “something else”!
Lauren Henry also advanced to the women’s single sculls final after winning her semi-final.

Fans of the brand have been raving about this makeup combination, with one five star beauty buff sharing their thoughts on the set: “I recently tried the Charlotte Tilbury Glossy Nude Pink Lip Duo, and it instantly earned a spot in my everyday makeup routine. The set includes the Lip Cheat in Iconic Nude and the Collagen Lip Bath in Pillow Talk, two products that work beautifully together to create a naturally fuller, glossy lip look.
“The lip liner glides on effortlessly, defining the shape while helping the gloss stay in place. The Collagen Lip Bath adds a plumping, high-shine finish that feels nourishing and never sticky. What I love most about this duo is how wearable the nude-pink shade is – it’s soft, elegant, and versatile enough to complement both day and evening looks. If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to achieve polished lips with a touch of glam, this duo is a must-try. “
Someone else added: “This is the first lip gloss I have ever used, I’ve always been put off as didn’t like the idea of stickiness but this actually doesn’t feel sticky and it lasted all day even after eating food. I was very impressed and it’s a natural colour so it’s going to be great in the summer and the lip liner works well with it. “
A third simply stated: “Natural look with perfect colour. ” Although for one person, the kit wasn’t quite as impressive – especially the lip gloss’ applicator, as they explained: “The nude shades are so pretty. The applicator of the gloss is a pretty heart shape but it’s not the best for application. Doesn’t take too much product on it. “

A vote on the UNSC (UNSC) vote is expected, which could lead to Iran’s resumed nuclear-related sanctions.
On Friday, the UNSC will vote on a resolution that China and Russia have proposed putting a stop to the punishments’ reimposition. After the United Kingdom, France, and Germany accused Tehran of breaking a 2015 agreement that would stop it from developing nuclear weapons, UN “snapback” sanctions are scheduled to be triggered at 00:00 GMT on Saturday.

The resolution will allow the international community to reimpose an arms embargo against Tehran and a punishing global asset freeze if the council declines to approve it. The resolution seeks a six-month delay to allow for further discussions.
Additionally, Iran’s citizens and entities are prohibited from selling materials that could be used in uranium enrichment and reprocessing, as well as for the development of ballistic missiles and travel.
The UNSC’s recommendation to pass the Russian/Chinese resolution is backed up by diplomats.
Hostile behaviors
After Israel and the United States bombed the sites in June, the UN’s nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), had been attempting to rebuild cooperation with Tehran and resume inspections of its nuclear facilities.
Iran has threatened to retaliate by ending its cooperation with the IAEA in the event of sanctions being imposed prior to the vote.
Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi stated in a Telegram post that no hostile actions against Iran would be possible without the IAEA’s earlier statement that the country’s nuclear cooperation would remain in effect.
Otherwise, he continued, “The Islamic Republic of Iran will consider its practical commitments terminated.”
He also criticized the “European Troika,” which consists of France, Germany, and the UK, for pushing for the reimposition of sanctions, according to an article from the Iranian Students’ News Agency.
UN nuclear inspectors have been pressing Iran to grant them full access to its nuclear sites.
Araghchi met with Yvette Cooper on Thursday to talk about the disagreement, which he “strongly criticized the position of the three European countries as unjustified, illegal, and irresponsible,” according to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The resolution that would postpone the lifting of sanctions until April 18th, 2014, is expected to be presented to the UNSC later on Friday.
The draft resolution would direct “immediate resume negotiations” for all the initial parties to the deal, including the US.
The UNSC’s 15 members did not anticipate giving the resolution the nine votes needed to pass, diplomats told the AFP news agency.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated his statement at a meeting with Bolivian President Luis Arce Catacora on Thursday, saying Tehran is “fully prepared for any scenario” in the event that the UN General Assembly is reinstated.
Pezeshkian reiterated in his first UN address on Wednesday that Tehran will “never attempt to build a nuclear bomb.”
Iran has long argued that it is not seeking nuclear weapons, citing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s edict, and that US intelligence has not determined whether Iran has chosen to develop nuclear weapons.
Eddie Howe says Newcastle United will do all they can to “protect” Lewis Miley after the teenager received “totally unjustified” criticism on social media.
Miley chose to limit replies to a post he made on X to mark his 50th first-team game for Newcastle against Bournemouth on Sunday. It is understood this was a precaution as he is still young.
The 19-year-old came under fire from a minority of social media users, who questioned the midfielder’s first-team credentials during the goalless draw at the Vitality Stadium, and Howe said it was “totally unjustified”.
Howe knows such comments can affect players if they “absorb it”, but the Newcastle head coach stressed Miley was “strong mentally”.
“Lewie is an outstanding player and a player we need to support and protect”, he said. “Sometimes, when you look at him, you forget how young he is because of his stature and maturity both on and off the pitch.
Miley, who made his first Premier League start since February, praised Newcastle’s” amazing “travelling support in his post on Sunday and wrote that he was” very proud “to have hit the milestone for his boyhood club.
The teenager has since received hundreds of messages of support from fans while captain Bruno Guimaraes wrote that his team-mate was a” top player and guy”.

Howe recalled he was briefly on social media years ago, but the Newcastle head coach said he” cut it off because he didn’t like what he read – even though they were probably right”.
However, Howe suggested his players were unlikely to follow suit if he advised them to do so.
” I don’t think I have the right to do that, “he said”. I would advise them, probably. If it helps you, do whatever you need to do but if it doesn’t, come away from it. It’s all about how you absorb the things you are reading.

Amy Dowden has opened up about the ‘hard slog’ of recovery following her battle with cancer. The Strictly Come Dancing star, 35, underwent a mastectomy and intense chemotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023.
Amy documented her journey on social media, happily announcing in February 2024 that she had ‘no evidence of the disease.’ However, the Welsh dancer has now revealed that recovery took longer than expected, which she described as a ‘very scary time’.
Speaking on the Breast Cancer Uncovered podcast, she said: “All of a sudden my diary was blank because I was cancelling dance shows, I was cancelling up and coming work. And I didn’t know: was I going to be dancing again?

“Was I going to be working again? It was a very scary time and you don’t know when you are going to get back to full health. There is no guarantee you will. ” Breast Cancer Uncovered is a five-part series which explores the ‘realities of breast cancer’, touching on topics like diagnosis, recovery and even diet.
Amy worked with breast cancer surgeon, Naren Basu, to film the series, which is available to listen to on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts. During this episode’s conversation, she continued: “For me, if somebody who had such a full-on loaded diary to all of a sudden then to be cancelling everything and not know when your life was going to resume was, for me particularly, was really tough.”
She also added: “I thought that was it. Life was going to resume. I didn’t realise that hard slog then of recovery and how long that actually took.”
Possible signs of breast cancer
Amy often uses her platform to highlight breast cancer awareness and encourages women to frequently examine themselves for crucial warning signs. Amongst potential indicators to watch for are lumps, swelling, and unusual changes in breast size or shape, alongside other symptoms:
Change in the skin of your breast, such as dimpling (it may look like orange peel) or redness, which may be harder to see on black or brown skin
Change in the shape or look of your nipple, such as it turning inwards (inverted nipple) or a rash on it (it may look like eczema)
Nipple discharge (if you’re not pregnant or breastfeeding), which may have blood in it
Lumps or swelling in your breast, chest, or armpit
Change in size or shape of 1 or both breasts, or either side of your chest – it’s common for breasts to be different sizes, but check for any changes that are not normal for you
Sores or ulcers on your chest
Advice from the NHS also adds: “Checking your breasts or chest regularly helps you learn what looks and feels normal for you. This makes it easier to notice any changes that could be a sign of a condition such as breast cancer.
“You should try to check your breasts or chest about once a month. “

How can I get a breast screening?
The NHS invites females registered with a GP to take a breast screening every three years between the ages of 50 and 71. These invitations are generally sent in the post.
“If you’re a trans man, trans woman or are non-binary you may be invited automatically, or you may need to talk to your GP surgery or call the local breast screening service to ask for an appointment,” the health body adds. “You need to be registered with a GP surgery to be invited for breast screening. “
However, anyone who notices unusual changes in their breasts is encouraged to seek GP advice, regardless of their age. The NHS adds: “Lumps in the breasts can have lots of different causes. They’re often caused by something harmless like a non-cancerous tissue growth (fibroadenoma) or a build-up of fluid (breast cyst).
“Sometimes, a breast lump can be a sign of something serious like breast cancer. Do not try to self-diagnose the cause of your lump – always see a GP. “
