Harry and Meghan in ‘crisis’ over Prince’s ‘totally unrealistic’ royal plan

Prince Harry is said to he hopeful of a reconciliation with his brother Prince William and dad King Charles, which royal expert Tom Bower has branded ‘unrealistic’

Prince Harry set for more heartache as he and Meghan at odds over royal reconciliation

Prince Harry could be set for more heartache amidst his ongoing High Court battle over security and woes over his former charity Sentebale.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, is reportedly thinking about reconciling with his family, following the fallout with brother Prince William and his dad King Charles. But, royal expert and Prince Harry biographer Tom Bower, who is planning a new bombshell book on Harry and wife Meghan Markle, said the hopes are ‘unrealistic’. Speaking in an exclusive interview, in which he revealed plans for his bombshell new book which is set to document the couple’s current crisis, Tom explained: “He’s stuck out in California and clinging on to his royal status, as is she.

“Plus, Harry’s thinking is of ‘reconciliation’. That’s just totally unrealistic. There is zero chance of reconciliation because there is irreconcilable anger on the part of William and Kate. “

Royal biographer Tom, who’s previous book on the couple, titled Revenge, became a best seller after its release in 2022, added that Harry has been left deeply hurt by recent events in his life. He said: “They have both been wounded, and what’s fascinating about them is they don’t stop fighting back. And the fight back is just as important as their survival. This battle for survival and the fight for revenge is increasing by the week. “

The author also claimed that while Harry is hopeful for reconciliation, Meghan has other plans. “They have a crisis, because Meghan wants to be a billionaire celebrity and Harry doesn’t understand that world. He just literally can’t understand it, other than [understanding that] Meghan wants to be famous and not in the media all the time,” he said.

“He doesn’t understand what it entails… because he’s spent his whole life never having a penny in his pocket. He’s never regularly travelled on the tube, never had to worry about having a car or a job. So he doesn’t understand where she’s coming from, which is that she worked phenomenally hard, struggled hard, and was constantly humiliated, and wants the security of finance and status. She hasn’t got the status that she craves. She is a Duchess. [But] She hasn’t got the pulling power. “

Relations between Prince Harry, Prince William and King Charles collapsed shortly after Harry’s move to the US, after he announced his decision to step away from his role as a senior working member of the Royal Family in 2020.

Following their step away from The Firm, Harry and Meghan took part in a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey. The couple also took part in a Netflix documentary about their move away from the Royal Family and Harry released a book, titled Spare, in which he recalled a confrontation with William, 42, in which the Prince of Wales reportedly branded Meghan “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive” – which Harry described as “parrot[ing] the press narrative”.

Harry then alleged William: “Grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor. ” In an interview to promote the book the Duke of Sussex claimed he would “like to get his brother and father back” – but a mending of their broken bond appears to have not yet taken place.

Earlier this month, Harry claimed his “worst fears were confirmed” about the change in his taxpayer-funded police protection as he spoke out about the latest stage in his court battle over his security arrangements.

The Duke of Sussex has been challenging the dismissal of his High Court claim against the Home Office over the decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) that he should receive a different degree of protection when in the UK. Harry has argued that he cannot bring his wife Meghan and their two children, Archie and Lilbet, to the UK because they don’t feel safe.

As he attended a two day hearing at the Court of Appeal earlier this month, the Duke of Sussex claimed “people would be shocked by what’s being held back” adding that his “worst fears have been confirmed by the whole legal disclosure in this case and that’s really sad”.

Humanoid Robots Stride Into The Future With World’s First Half-Marathon

Step by mechanical step, dozens of humanoid robots took to the streets of Beijing early on Saturday, joining thousands of their flesh-and-blood counterparts in a world-first half marathon showcasing China’s drive to lead the global race in cutting-edge technology.

The 21-kilometre (13-mile) event held in the Chinese capital’s E-Town — a state-backed high-tech manufacturing hub — was billed as a groundbreaking effort to test the limits of bipedal robots in real-world conditions.

At the crack of the starter’s gun, the robots began taking their first tentative steps as the Chinese pop song “I Believe” blared out from loudspeakers.

Curious human runners lined the roadside, phones in hand ready to photograph each machine as it began the race.

One smaller-sized android fell over and lay on the ground for several minutes, before getting up by itself to loud cheers.

Another, powered by propellers, veered across the starting line before crashing into a barrier  and knocking over an engineer.

Crossing the finish line first despite a mid-race fall was the tallest droid and one of the heaviest in the competition. At 180 centimetres (5. 9 feet) tall and weighing 52 kilograms (114. 6 pounds), the metallic black “Tiangong Ultra” finished in two hours, 40 minutes and 42 seconds.

The men’s and women’s winners, both from Ethiopia, finished in one hour, two minutes and 36 seconds, and in one hour, 11 minutes and seven seconds respectively, according to state media.

Tang Jian, chief technology officer of the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center which developed “Tiangong”, told reporters the company was “very happy with the results”.

“We had set three goals for ourselves: first, to win the championship; second, to complete the entire half marathon with a single robot — a very important goal for us; and third, to finish the race in under three hours,” he said.

“We collected real-world running data from professional athletes and trained the robot so that its gait, cadence, stride length, and various postures could match those of professional runners as closely as possible. ”

The Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, first established by the government, is now owned by Chinese tech firms Xiaomi Robotics and UBTech Robotics as well as two state-owned companies, according to business data provider  Tianyancha.

Enthusiastic onlookers cheered the robots on from the sidelines.

“My daughter… got up really early and asked to come watch the robot marathon,” spectator Huang Xiaoyu told AFP, holding her child.

“It was quite a breathtaking experience — we were able to see some of the most cutting-edge robots in our country. ”

Tech race

Around 20 teams from across China participated in the competition, with robots ranging from 75 to 180 centimetres tall and weighing up to 88 kilograms.

Some jogged autonomously, while others were guided remotely by their engineers. Robots and human participants ran on separate tracks.

“Getting onto the race track might seem like a small step for humans, but it’s a giant leap for humanoid robots,” Liang Liang, Beijing E-Town’s management committee deputy director, told AFP.

Engineers said the goal was to test the performance and reliability of the androids — emphasising that finishing the race, not winning it, was the main objective.

“There are very few opportunities for the whole industry to run at full speed over such a long distance or duration,” Cui Wenhao, a 28-year-old engineer at Noetix Robotics, told AFP.

“It’s a serious test for the battery, the motors, the structure — even the algorithms. ”

Kong Yichang, a 25-year-old engineer from DroidUp, said the race would help to “lay a foundation for a whole series of future activities involving humanoid robots”.

China, the world’s second-largest economy, has sought to assert its dominance in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics, positioning itself as a direct challenger to the United States.

In January, Chinese start-up DeepSeek drew attention with a chatbot it claimed was developed more cost-effectively than its US counterparts.

Dancing humanoid robots also captivated audiences during a televised Chinese New Year gala.

France (12) 34

France survived a first-half mauling by Italy to fight back and pick up a vital 34-21 win in Parma that keeps their 100% record intact in the Six Nations.

France needed a win to keep the pressure up on England – who have a much better points difference and an extra bonus point – before the two sides meet next Saturday at Twickenham.

But they were second best in the opening half, as a hugely impressive Italy stormed to a 21-12 lead that could, and should, have been greater.

The hosts did not manage a point in the second 40 minutes, though, as France responded well to take a win that was only assured when Marine Menager and Alexandra Chambon crossed in the last five minutes.

Italy last beat France in 2019, and fell behind early on when wing Joanna Grisez finished a flowing move in the corner.

But when France lock Madoussou Fall was sent to the bin for a high tackle on Beatrice Veronese, Italy took advantage with a sustained spell of pressure and finished it with hooker Vittoria Vecchini going over from close range.

Wing Aura Muzzo scored at the end of another fine spell to put Italy 14-7 ahead, with the dominant hosts held up on the line three times.

France looked miles off it but reacted well and their first attack for 20 minutes ended with a try, quick ball finding Morgane Bourgeois to score.

Italy bossed the rest of the half though and secured a third try when prop Silvia Turani touched down after a maul. It appeared she had lost control of the ball but the TMO could not find clear evidence to overturn Sara Cox’s on-pitch call.

Bourgeois kicked a penalty to start the second-half comeback and Romane Menager put France 22-21 ahead when she dived under the posts.

Russia’s Putin declares unilateral Easter ceasefire in Ukraine conflict

DEVELOPING STORYDEVELOPING STORY,

President Vladimir Putin has announced a unilateral Easter truce in Russia’s war in Ukraine, while President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said shortly after that Ukrainian air defence units were fighting off an attack by Russian drones, adding that showed Moscow’s true attitude to Easter and the lives of people.

“Today from 18:00 (15:00 GMT) to midnight Sunday (21:00 GMT Sunday), the Russian side announces an Easter truce,” Putin said in televised comments on Saturday while speaking to Russian chief of staff Valery Gerasimov.

Putin said he assumed Ukraine would follow Russia’s example and said Kyiv’s actions during the ceasefire will show its readiness for a peaceful settlement.

But the Russian president also told Gerasimov to ready troops to repel any violations of the truce by Ukraine.

The Russian Defence Ministry posted on Telegram: “The ceasefire regime is being introduced for humanitarian purposes and will be observed by the Russian Joint Group of Troops [Forces], provided that it is mutually observed by the Kyiv regime. ”

Last month, Putin agreed to halt attacks on energy infrastructure targets in Ukraine for 30 days after a phone call with United States President Donald Trump.

However, both sides have told of numerous instances in which attacks have continued.

Putin stopped short of accepting a broader US-backed 30-day ceasefire proposal that Ukraine has said it is ready to implement.

According to Russian media reports, on Saturday Putin accused Ukraine of violating the truce on attacks on energy infrastructure more than 100 times but highlighted that the situation on the front line has been favourable to Russia so far.

President George Bush’s former Chief Information Officer has revealed that appearing on Hunted was quite similar to her time working in The White House

‘I helped protect US president – Trump’s team must watch out for two words’

Theresa Payton made history as the first female Chief Information Officer during George W. Bush’s presidency and later found herself appearing on Hunted. But while she was used to working in a “fishbowl” during her time at The White House between 2006 and 2008, she admits Hunted wasn’t as different as people would assume.

During her time working for the Executive Office of President Bush, Theresa was responsible for implementing the first ever 24/7 Security Operation Centre (SOC) for White House operations. Prior to joining, the Presidential office had no team dedicated to the technology operations for the President.

After leaving her role serving under President Bush, Theresa landed herself a role on Channel 4 show Hunted, leading the Deputy Commander of Intelligence back in 2017. Speaking about the show, in a rare interview, she exclusively told the Mirror: “What a fascinating opportunity.”

Theresa added: “It’s interesting, when you work at the White House, you are in somewhat of a fishbowl, if things go wrong, everybody knows. It was the same thing with Hunted, just a different type of fishbowl. As the Deputy Commander of Intelligence on Hunted, my role was to lead the command centre’s intel operations and orchestrate the tracking of the Fugitives.

“I believe we had to cover about 100,000 square miles and let’s just say, our team captured the targets within 28 days.” The reality show allows people taking part to attempt to evade some of the most skilled intelligence officers in the world in an attempt to find out how tricky it is to go under the radar.

Theresa added: “It was interesting because it really demanded the same strategic foresight as thinking about how to build the White House SOC, chasing people who are trying to run away for sport and competition money. It was really interesting because my ability to analyse patterns and predict moves really helped us with hunting the fugitives and I always tell people, if you haven’t watched the show, please watch it. “

Since Theresa’s time on the show, her season from the United States is used to inform and educate participants when a new series launches in the UK. She said: “What I always like to tell people, if you haven’t seen the show, think The Bourne Identity meets CSI. And my role was to just lead a great brain trust to outsmart the runners. “

Working mum Theresa, who now runs a female-driven tech and cybersecurity company called Fortalice Solutions, emphasised that the show is far from scripted. “I’m not used to having a camera on me all day long at work and a microphone,” she explained, before adding: “I was literally hot mic’d the entire day, even when we were on break I had a hot mic on.

“I always say to people, you’re seeing a career of experiences in banking and the White House. When it comes to high stakes challenges, you don’t know what’s being captured. So everything that you see, whether it be going over strategy, focus, faith, humour – all of those things get captured by the camera. ” Theresa joked that running the command centre was similar to “herding cyber-cats in a storm” as she and her team played “mental mind games” on the contestants.

She later appeared on the TV show Hunted as the Deputy Commander of Intelligence

Before joining the White House, Theresa worked in banking and joked she went from “the server room to the boardroom,” and rarely spoke to the media. When she eventually joined President Bush’s staffing list, she again rarely disclosed information about herself and kept her LinkedIn page to a minimum and only stated that she worked for the federal government.

“That was just as much for my own protection as for the privacy and policy of the White House,” she said. “There’s no media, there’s not public speaking and so to leave there and then suddenly be on a reality TV show was really something different,” Theresa explained.

After leaving the White House, Theresa admits she noticed the “phantom vibrating of the device,” having work a clip on her belt in her financial career and Informations Officer role, meaning she was constantly available to take on work. “For weeks after leaving, I kept reaching for my waist and there’s no White House device, no banking device attached to my waist, that was kind of strange,” she said.

But this wasn’t all, Theresa would wake up throughout the night believing her phone was going off only to realise it wasn’t. However, now she looks back with gratitude after people took a chance on her. When she was hired into banking, Theresa was actually working on technologies that were not being used. “Being the first female to have that role with small children and my husband has his own career, a dual career family, the White House took a chance on me,” she explained before stating that she was “incredibly grateful” for the “incredible opportunities” that were given to her.

Now, she uses these opportunities to help others, mentoring college and university students and even gives back time to her two universities, Immaculata University and the University of Virginia. “I always remember, somebody saw something in me, took a chance, all the things that I’ve had the opportunity to do were my first time, people believed in me and so I aim to just pay that forward for the people that I meet,” she said.

Theresa visits her universities at least twice a year and also engages with virtual seminars in order to encourage people to take up a career in the STEM industry. Through this, she tells people to embrace the “F word”; failure. Admitting that while failure isn’t always an option, it’s a learning curve for people.

Reflecting on her White House role, Theresa said: “We did not have a 24/7 full dedicated SOC for White House operations and I had the opportunity to create the SOC for the Executive Office of the President. at the time, this was considered to be a groundbreaking move to protect the critical systems of White House operations.

“You had the secret service, military, the White House military and White House communications agency but no group was dedicated to the technology operations. What was great about this was during the time period, cyber attacks on government systems rose to about 300 per cent, so putting this SOC in place was a true game changer.

“We really laid the foundation for what people refer to as zero trust frameworks. ” This terminology, though, is not something Theresa uses and instead focuses on no trust networks. “We’re moving from that trust but verified to truly a verified and then trust but only trust one instance for this type of design,” she said. Theresa says that it was in “incredible opportunity to serve” as not only did they build a SOC but a cyber fortress which she says was to keep the nation states and criminals at bay to allow President Bush to “sleep soundly. “

During her tenure, she also protected the digital footprints of individuals as they were being targeted via digital and physical espionage from Cold War spy techniques to digital war spying techniques. During her time, she also ensured that President George W. Bush’s iPod Shuffle playlist was never published to the public when it was synced to the cloud.

Social media was also a discussion, with Theresa explaining that President Bush decided to let the “professionals do the communicating. ” But while Donald Trump’s use of social media often comes under fire, Theresa believes that the President uses his platform in order to speak directly to the public he serves.

Offering her advice to the President’s team, she said: “I would advise them that based on this human user story as Commander In Chief and President of the United States, they should be doing an ongoing thorough review of the digital footprint, not only of him, but the digital footprints of his chief of staff and everybody around him. She explained she was “aghast” when Venmo accounts of senior execs in the White House were available for public viewing.

Although she was still working in financial services when the atrocious September 11 attacks took place, Theresa admits that President Bush was serious about one thing – ensuring such attacks never took place again. The attacks, known as 9. 11, were coordinated terrorist attacks carried out by terrorists.

Terrorists hijacked commercial airliners, flying two into the Twin Towers, a third into the Pentagon and a fourth which crashed in Pennsylvania after passengers revolted and tackled the terrorists. Tragically, 2,977 people were killed. President Bush wanted to make sure that nothing like this ever happened again under his watch, or the watch of another President.

“I knew where his heart was and his heart was ‘not on our watch’,” she explained. Theresa later added that on a daily occurrence, often multiple times a day, the President would say: “We must leave this place better than we found it for the next administration to come. ” Most recently, Theresa admits she has been “dismayed” by the negativity surrounding the recent Blue Origin space mission which saw an all female team made up of Katy Perry, Gayle King, film producer Kerianne Flynn, former NASA scientist Aisha Bowe, US journalist Lauren Sanchez, US research scientist Amanda Nguyen, head into space for the first time since 1963.

She said: “It was fearless. It showed women, young women, girls that they belong among the stars. It definitely reminds us that we should dream bigger. Katy Perry’s words on the matter, I see she’s being panned but I have to say, as a working mum, her words hit home for me and every other working mother who’s juggling their career and family.

“So it was really great to see. I get it, some people feel like it was more of a billionaire’s joy ride, is what I think somebody wrote but I love this opportunity to talk about this. This wasn’t just a flight, it was really a launch pad for ambition. We have no idea how many young women and girls will walk away inspired. Maybe they’ll card the next Mars Rover or maybe they will create the next design, eco-friendly rocket. Maybe they’ll be inspired to be an astronaut but that’s the ripple effect that I think we could have from something like this. “

While she acknowledges that people may criticise Katy Perry for heading into space, she admits its “long overdue” to see an all female crew. She said: “They showed that with bravery and being bold, trusting in somebody else’s engineering. I think that’s very interesting because I reflected on when William Shatner went up and when he came back and how emotional he was. I don’t remember all this negativity around that. I just ask everybody to look at the statistics, we need more people in STEM and we especially need to encourage and inspire more women to choose STEM as a profession.”

She believes that the female crew showed “raw courage” and modelled “fearlessness” during their mission. Space was a topic of conversation in the White House during Theresa’s tenure, she explained: “They definitely were having those conversations. I would not say I had an active role in those conversations, other than from time to time being allowed to listen in.

“But yes, absolutely, kind of space as the fifth domain – you think about land, water, sea and air but beyond air is space or the universe, so that was often discussed. From a policy perspective, critical infrastructure, what does this mean for commerce and certainly, protection and defence of truly outer space. “

Hollywood actor Colin Farrell looked sombre as he was spotted grabbing a coffee in Los Feliz, California, on Friday after emotionally sharing his decision to place his son James, 21, in a long-term adult care facility.

The Penguin actor, currently busy filming Series 2 of his Apple TV+ show Sugar, was seen picking up three coffees from a local café in his neighbourhood. Colin, 48, sported a casual look as he donned a deep V-neck T-shirt and plaid trousers, paired with Adidas trainers for the coffee run.

The dad-of-two completed his look with a camouflage headband and subtle gold and silver jewellery. Colin kept a low profile as he stood with his arms crossed, waiting by the coffee window before collecting his order.

Colin’s outing on Friday follows his decision to publicly discuss his decision to place his adult son James, 21, adult disabled son into care. He explained that he wants to ensure his son’s care is properly managed while he and his ex-partner are still alive, and to provide him with a strong sense of community.

The Golden Globe-winning actor had previously divulged that James was initially misdiagnosed with cerebral palsy, before disclosing his correct diagnosis of Angelman syndrome in 2007. This rare genetic disorder, which affects the nervous system and causes significant physical and intellectual disabilities, has seen James face considerable challenges, including being non-verbal, issues with movement, irregular breathing, and epilepsy.

Despite the likelihood of those with Angelman syndrome having a relatively normal lifespan, constant care is necessary. Colin, alongside James’ mother Kim Bordenave, has chosen professional care for their son. In an emotional revelation, Colin expressed his fear of leaving James without adequate support if tragedy were to strike him or Kim.

He shared: “It’s tricky, some parents will say ‘I want to take care of my child myself’ and I respect that,” adding, “But my horror would be… What if I have a heart attack tomorrow, and, God forbid, James’ mother, Kim, has a car crash and she’s taken too – and then James is on his own? “

During the emotional chat with Candis Magazine, the Irish actor revealed his fears: “Then he’s a ward of the state and he goes where? We’d have no say in it. ” Colin and Kim are now on a mission to find a place for their son James to live “now while we’re still alive and healthy” so they can be involved in his life, take him out, and ensure he’s happy.

He expressed his heartfelt wish: “We want him to find somewhere where he can have a full and happy life, where he feels connected. ” Last year, Colin shared the struggles surrounding James’ health issues and the initial wrong diagnosis he received.

The star explained to PEOPLE magazine the confusion between James’ condition and cerebral palsy, noting: “[James] couldn’t sit up. He wasn’t crawling. I think he was a year and a half when we took him to get really checked out, and he was diagnosed as having cerebral palsy. “

Cerebral palsy, as defined by the NHS, is a group of permanent movement disorders that appear in early childhood, often due to brain damage before or at birth. Colin recounted the tough journey: “It was a common misdiagnosis, because it shared a lot of the same characteristics. And that was a downer for sure.”

The correct diagnosis came when James was about two and a half years old, after a paediatric neurologist suggested testing for Angelman syndrome. The revelation brought new concerns for Colin about his son’s quality of life and potential pain. Colin opened up about the moment he questioned a doctor regarding his son’s rare condition, recalling: “I remember the first two questions I asked were, ‘What’s the life expectancy and how much pain is involved? ‘,” and the reassuring response he received: “And the doctor said, ‘Life expectancy, as far as we can tell, is the same for you and for me, and pain, no. ‘”.

Colin launched the Colin Farrell Foundation last year to support adults with intellectual disabilities like his son James. He expressed concern that once James turned 21, he would be “kind of on his own” due to the lack of protections afforded to younger individuals with disabilities.

In a deeply personal chat with InStyle back in 2012, Colin Farrell shared the poignant milestones in his son’s life: “We share in the smallest victories; the first words at age six or seven, being able to feed oneself at 19, and getting the seizures under control. When James took his first steps at age four, I nearly broke in half! “

Fast forward to 2021, Farrell took legal steps for him and Kim to become conservators for James, aiming to have a say over important aspects of his care and life decisions – from his education and health care to his social interactions and even matters of the heart.
