President of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced he will be attending Pope Francis’ funeral following the sad news of the pontiff’s death on Easter Monday

US chat show host, Jimmy Kimmel, has told his viewers he’s concerned about Donald Trump’s behaviour following Pope Francis’ death. In sad news, it was announced on Monday that the pontiff had died, aged 88 after suffering a stroke and subsequent heart failure.

Following the announcement, which was made by Cardinal Kevin Farrell – and left much of the world in mourning – Trump announced he would be attending the Pope’s funeral in Rome on Saturday. However, Jimmy, has warned the polarising figure may have other ideas up his sleeve as he shared his prediction during his Jimmy Kimmel Live show on Monday night.

Addressing his audience, he said: “Trump announced that he will be attending the Pope’s funeral. He said they’re ‘looking forward’ to being there, like he got tickets to Coachella or something. “

Suggesting The Apprentice star may do more than just attend the service by, bizarrely, declaring himself the Pope, he continued: “What are the chances Trump declares himself Pope? “They’re not zero. They are not zero! ” he laughed.

Elsewhere in his monologue, he shared a clip of the president, praising the Pope for “being a good man who loved the world”. Mocking Trump, Kimmel said: “He was a good man, who loved the world and loved wearing pointy hats”.

Trump was just one of the famous faces around the world, who paid tribute to the pontiff, whose funeral will be in Rome on Saturday.

Pope Francis had suffered a number of health issues over the last few months as he was admitted to the Gemelli hospital in Rome for bronchitis treatment in February.

Announcing his death on Easter Monday, Cardinal Farrell said: “Dearest brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis. At 7. 35am, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father.

“His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of His Church. He taught us to live the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage, and universal love, especially in favour of the poorest and most marginalized.

“With immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we commend the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite merciful love of the One and Triune God. “

Paying tribute, actress Whoopi Goldberg was one of the first to react to the news. Alongside an image of her standing alongside the Pope, she wrote: “He was the closest in a long time that seemed to remember that Christ’s love enveloped believer and none believer.

“He felt more like Pope John the 23rd who made belief real. Sail on Pope Francis with your love of humanity & laughter. “

The Vivienne’s sister has questioned whether the “stigma” around drug use prevented the performer from seeking help. James Lee Williams, better known as The Vivienne, died at home in Cheshire in January, aged 32.

The family announced the cause of death as cardiac arrest caused by the effects of taking ketamine. An inquest is scheduled to take place in June.

Chanel Williams told BBC Newsnight that her brother had “a really long period of sobriety” before relapsing. The RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner previously spoke about ketamine abuse during the 2019 series.

“He’d spoken openly on Drag Race about the battles he’d had with addiction, and he’d come through the other side of that,” Chanel said. “He was at the height of everything he was doing and I think because he’d said it in such a open platform, it’s really difficult to come back and say you’re struggling again. “

She added: “It’s hard for me because I think if that stigma wasn’t there, would my brother have sought the help he needed?” Chanel and her family are working with Adferiad, a substance abuse charity, to help raise awareness and tackle stigma around drug use.

According to UK Addiction Treatment Centres, ketamine is a dissociative drug that was first synthesised as an anaesthetic. Also known as ‘special K’, it has a highly addictive potential. While it’s sometimes used in hospital settings to help patients with severe pain, ketamine abuse is becoming more common.

UK Addiction Treatment Centres said: “While you might not think that your drug use is a cause for concern, there is no ‘correct’ dosage for ketamine and any recreational use of the substance should be a cause for concern.

“This is because ketamine is illegal and has the potential to be highly dangerous if not administered by a medical professional. For this reason, it is important to carefully monitor your ketamine use to determine whether your habit has escalated to a full-blown addiction. “

Signs and symptoms of ketamine addiction could include:

  • Poor coordination
  • Insomnia
  • Very irritable
  • ‘Spacing out’ often, as if in a trance
  • Swift movement of the eyes
  • Slurring their words
  • Intense cravings
  • Hallucinations
  • Bladder pains
  • Insomnia
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Paralysis
  • Increased heart rate
  • Memory loss

UK Addiction Treatment Centre continued: “Whether you have been abusing ketamine for a short time or are battling a long-withstanding addiction, it is never too late to seek help for your dependence. It can be overwhelming to choose to make such a significant life change, but this could make all the difference in seeing the other side of your addiction and regaining control over your life.

FAI announces exit of chief football officer Canham

Inpho

Chief football officer Marc Canham will leave his role with the Football Association of Ireland.

The Englishman has been in his position with the FAI since June 2022 and will remain in post to facilitate a handover with the process to find his replacement beginning immediately.

The 42-year-old said he will be leaving to “explore new personal and professional opportunities” in the UK.

“After much consideration, I have made the decision to leave the association and relocate back to England,” said Canham.

“This decision has not been an easy one to come to, but I believe that the time is right to explore new personal and professional opportunities for me and my family. “

Canham was a key figure in the development of the FAI’s Football Pathways Plan, a document intended to outline the future of the game in the Republic of Ireland, as well as the protracted process to replace senior men’s team boss Stephen Kenny with Heimir Hallgrimsson and the decision not to renew Eileen Gleeson’s contract as manager of the senior women’s team.

FAI president Paul Cooke said: “While we are sad to see Marc leave, we fully respect his decision, and I sincerely thank him for his dedication and hard work throughout his time with us.

Big Brother couple announce shock split after falling in love in the house

https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article35097102.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/0_Initial-TV-Productions.jpg

A Big Brother couple have revealed they are going their separate ways, just days after they were back in the ITV house. Henry Southan and Jordan Sangha have shocked fans with their surprise split announcement after meeting in 2023.

They won fans over with their romance sparking on screen in the iconic house during the first civilian reboot and were together ever since. Henry and Jordan returned to Big Brother just last week as a couple to give their thoughts on the drama on the current series of Celebrity Big Brother.

The pair headed back into the hot tub where it all began as they chatted to host Will Best. However, just days later Henry took to Instagram to share the shock announcement.

He said: “After a lot of thought, Jordan and I have decided to go our separate ways.

Jordan and Henry both released emotional statements (jordan. sangha/Instagram)

“It’s incredible sad, and we’re both hurting, but we know it’s the right step. We’re so grateful for the love and support you’ve shown us – thank you. “

Henry added: “Please give us some space as we figure things out privately. “

Jordan also shared his own statement as he sadly wrote: “An unfortunate announcement. After many times, memories, and precious experience, Henry and I have parted ways.

“I want to than everyone who has supported us. We will always remain close friends. Cheers x. “

The pair met on the revived series of Big Brother on ITV in 2023 where they initially struck up a friendship. As the days went by, they got closer and closer.

After leaving the show with Jordan crowned winner, the couple moved in with each other. Jordan, who worked as a lawyer before going on the reality TV show, hit back at showmance claims following their exit from the house.

Speaking to The Sun, Jordan – who secured the £100,000 prize – said: “We’re very much in love. I mean I wish it was a showmance, but it’s not. “

Both Jordan and Henry revealed they hadn’t been in a relationship before so were “navigating it”. Jordan also shared an adorable snap of him hugging Henry as he gushed over him.

He wrote: “This caption is intentionally cringeworthy, so beware: I met someone in October under unusual circumstances. He’s a bit of a git whereas I’m a bit of a prick[ly person at select times].

“However, from a pseudo-eviction to a necklace, I realised that I had actually found a handsome, intelligent, and debonair fellow. I’m not a soppy b*****d but HRH Sourdough’s re-taught me the importance of smiling. And so I’m cooking dinner for him tomorrow (I don’t cook and he’s a bloody food critic). “

Henry declared they were Instagram official after leaving the house as he shared a snap of the pair on a night out. In the caption, he wrote: “wtf guys I think I found a boyfriend on national television. “

Jordan even admitted he was embarrassed to have ever described their bond as “platonic” while on the show. Speaking to OK! , he said: “I look back on the show with embarrassment. Every time I say that platonic thing, I shiver,” before Henry cut in, saying: “Think about how I feel! “

Jordan admitted: “All that platonic stuff – it’s pitiful, isn’t it? We have moved far, far beyond that. We’ve leapt forward. We do use the boyfriend title now. “

Jacqueline Jossa has opened up about the next step in her life after a make or break holiday with her estranged husband Dan Osborne after it emerged they’d paused their marriage

Jacqueline Jossa has hinted at the next step in her relationship with Dan Osborne

Jacqueline Jossa has shared a major life update after it was revealed she and husband Dan Osborne had separated. The EastEnders actress and Dan, who found fame on The Only Way Is Essex announced in March that after 12 years together they had decided to split following weeks of speculation about their marriage.

But earlier this month, the 32-year-old actress and Dan, 33, had hinted that they were planning to rekindle their marriage as they headed off on a make or break holiday with one another. The couple and their children headed out to Mexico with sources saying there was “still so much love between Jac and Dan. “

Meanwhile, sources added that focusing on their two children, daughters Ella, 10, and Mia, six, were their priority and they were finding their split “hard to navigate. ” But now Jacqueline has hinted that she is preparing for a major chapter in her life.

The actress who found fame playing Lauren Branning on the BBC One soap opera has taken to social media and hinted that things were back on track for her and her husband. “Can’t wait for more mornings like this,” she said before adding: “One day I will live abroad somewhere with a beautiful view. ” Jacqueline continued: “Well needed couple of weeks rest (as much as you can with kids),” alongside a laughing emoji.

Meanwhile, Dan also shared a snap from their getaway with his own Instagram followers. The reality star could be seen posing not too far from where Jacqueline’s snap was taken in front of the ocean. Flexing his muscles in a pair of small swimming trunks, Dan used a sun, weightlifting and palm tree emoji before writing: “Happiness. “

During their getaway, they looked every inch the in love couple as they were spotted relaxing around the swimming pool soaking up the Central American sunshine and scorching temperatures. Speaking to the Mirror, a source told us that the pair were “trying to fall back in love with each other again.”

They explained: “They’ve had a rocky, up and down relationship so now they’re trying to do things differently and give each other more space at home, while enjoying this holiday. Jacqueline and Dan want to be together for their children and do want to be a family, but now it’s a case of remembering why they were together in the first place. It’s been a tough road and they know things need to change to make this work. “

As they sat around the pool, Jacqueline was all smiles as Dan appeared to nuzzle her neck playfully as they lounged around at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya. A leading body language expert told the Mirror that it appeared that Jac and Dan had found peace with their romance once again.

Adrianne Carter said: “This looks like a couple that is back on track to me. There are no signs of tension or hesitancy between Jac and Dan. It looks like they are trying to get their relationship back on track. There’s warmth there and there are plenty of sweet intimacy displays between this couple – all really does seem well. “

An onlooker at the five-star hotel told The Sun: “Dan and Jac looked like any normal couple. There were a few Brits at the resort, but no one recognised them and they were left alone to relax and enjoy quality time together. ” Following weeks of speculation, the couple confirmed last month that they had decided to go their separate ways.

“Jacqueline and Dan are handling things privately, choosing to keep their lives and relationship out of the public eye,” a statement said. It added: “They kindly ask for respect and privacy as they navigate this together. Their children remain their top priority, surrounded by love and care from both parents — something that will never change. Above all, Jacqueline and Dan have each other’s and their children’s best interests at heart. There will be no further comment. “

Could Serie A title be decided by a play-off?

Getty Images

Bologna’s stoppage-time winner against Inter Milan on Sunday has teed up the prospect of a play-off to determine where the Serie A title could go this season.

“Our championship does not end here,” Inter manager Simone Inzaghi said after the loss.

Inzaghi is right – leaders Inter Milan and second-placed Napoli, who are separated only by goal difference, still have five games left as they battle it out for the Scudetto.

However, the potential of a sixth fixture hangs on the horizon if they remain deadlocked after the 38-game campaign concludes.

Serie A re-introduced a rule in 2022 stating that if two teams competing for the title, or fighting relegation, finish level on points then they are required to meet in a play-off.

Goal difference would still play a role though with the team boasting the better record earning the opportunity to host the one-off tie.

How did we get here?

Inter Milan have spent most of the season playing catch-up with Napoli and they finally reached the summit of Serie A on February 22.

A win against Genoa before Napoli lost at Como opened up a three-point gap for the defending champions.

Inter and Napoli played out a draw on 1 March, allowing Inzaghi’s side to maintain their advantage.

Top two positions in the Serie A table

Has the Serie A title been decided via a play-off before?

It is rare and some may suggest harsh that a 38-game season could potentially come down to a penalty shoot-out.

That might have been why Serie A did away with the rule after the 2004-05 season.

However, some might suggest that one winner-takes-all tie between two inseparable teams is the fairest way to do it.

Serie A opted to bring back the prospect of a play-off for the start of the 2022-23 campaign, but the title has been claimed comfortably in each of the last two seasons – Napoli won by 16 points before Inter took last season’s title with a gap of 19 points.

Only once before has the title been awarded via a play-off victory in Italy and Inter fans will not need reminding of that occasion back in 1964.

Inter finished second to Bologna on goal difference after both sides accumulated 54 points across the 34-game term.

Bologna ran out 2-0 winners in the play-off at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Who do Inter Milan and Napoli play?

Inter Milan and Napoli have identical records across 33 games this term – winning 21, drawing eight and losing four.

Will that remain the same during their respective run-ins?
