Lieutenant-General Olufemi Oluyede, the commander of the Army’s Operation FASAN YAMMA, has directed the troops there to pursue bandits and other terrorists who threaten the region’s peace.
Major General Adeleke Ayannuga, the commander of Nigeria Army Cyber Warfare, represented the Army Chief at a special Sallah lunch with soldiers on Friday of the operation in Sokoto.
He claimed that the military has been successful in demonizing terrorists and will continue to advance the pace as troops are driven to defeat all forms of crime.

He emphasized the need for officers and other ranks to coexist among the various sister agencies as well as among themselves.
The occasion also provided a venue for the Army Chief to provide the troops with food and beverages and to unite them to sing Morales songs and other songs together.
The Army Chief also made a visit to the Giginya Army Barracks’ military hospital to motivate and reassure them of the Federal Government’s efforts to ensure that all of their wounds are recovered and rehabilitated.
The dignitaries who honored the occasion included Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, who was present.
The fighting troops who used the avenue to celebrate Sallah because they can’t leave the frontline to celebrate with their loved ones were also applauded.
In an apparent effort to end the world’s two largest economies’ bitter dispute over tariffs, US President Donald Trump has announced a new round of trade talks with China.
The president announced on social media that the meeting would take place on Monday in London. His announcement came a day after a rare leader-to-leader phone call with Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping appeared to ease mounting tensions.
Trump stated in a statement on his Truth Social platform that the Chinese team should meet with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.
Since Trump started his trade war this year, which included levies of up to 145 percent, the talks will mark the second round of negotiations between the two nations. Beijing responded with 125 percent of countermeasures.
Both parties agreed to temporarily lower the triple-digit tariffs following discussions in Geneva last month, with China’s 10% and US tariffs dropping to 30%.
Trump last week accused China of breaking the pact, which will likely come into effect in early August, bringing up deeper differences on both sides.
After the tariff war broke out, US officials have accused China of slowing down its ability to export rare earth minerals, causing concern for US businesses.
Other issues in the US include China’s export-driven, state-dominated economic model, and allegations of fentanyl trafficking.
Trump claimed on Truth Social on Wednesday that Xi was “VERY TOUGH, AND EXTREMELY HARD TO MAKE A DEAL WITH.”
He did, however, report a “positive conclusion” following his eagerly awaited phone call with Xi on Thursday, which should have pave the way for further high-level trade discussions, though it is still uncertain whether a quick fix will be reached for the tariffs impasse.
Amy Hunt of Great Britain ran a season-best second at the Rome Diamond League meet in the 200-meter race.
Hunt came second in 22.67 seconds, followed by Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith in 22.75, and Anavia Battle of the United States won the race.

Zara McDermott’s impressive weekly TV salary has been revealed with the reality star’s pulling power growing. The former Love Island star, 28, is currently dating ex-One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson. But as well as finding time for her newfound romance, Zara is continuing with her production work in front of the camera.
She earned a sizable £4, 438 per week last year, according to Zara Nicole McDermott Limited, the private company where her earnings are kept. The star’s profits, according to the documents filed with Companies House, were 280 and 805 for the year.
Her estimated assets were £705 and 688, with the star still holding on to her £540 and 718 after taxes.

Reality TV star Kylie Jenner gave a glimpse at construction work underway at a house this week. She hinted that it’s taking place at one of her properties in a series of posts that she shared with fans on social media earlier.
Kylie, 27, is said to live in a $36 million – roughly £27 million – mansion in Los Angeles. It’s previously been suggested that the Kardashians star’s property portfolio also includes an estate in a different area, with her having reportedly been building another home there after buying the land for $15 million – approximately £11 million – five years ago in 2020.
Early today, the entrepreneur shared a property update with her followers on Instagram. A number of photos that appeared to show construction work being done at an undisclosed house were posted by Kylie on the platform.

An unfinished archway over a staircase, complete with wood, was depicted in the first image. The walls’ wiring was seen, and nearby electrical outlets were obstructing electrical work.
Above the two outlets was written in some cases, with a question mark accompanying each one. It appeared to resemble the word “sconce,” which refers to a wall-attached light fixture that can hold candles or other lighting.

The final photo instead featured the first name of Kylie’s daughter Stormi, 7, written in green pen beneath a drawing on a wall. Stormi is the eldest of the former Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ two children with her former partner Travis Scott, 34, with them also parents to Aire, 3, together.
Kylie didn’t provide a caption on any of the three posts that she shared with her followers on her Instagram Story earlier. It remains unknown where the photos were taken. The US Sun suggests that it shows work underway at the property she’s reportedly building, rather than her current home.

The photos are the latest insight into Kylie’s life after she shared previous updates on the platform just days ago. Earlier this week, she uploaded a series of other photos and wrote in the accompanying caption: “My week on [film emoji].”
Stormi and Aire featured in the post, as did pals including Hailey Bieber, 28, and Kylie’s sister Kendall Jenner, 29. Some of the photos showed Kylie herself, with her seen beaming as she looked towards the camera in one of them.
Many fans shared their excitement over the post, with one writing at the time: “My heart is smiling. Beautiful beautiful!” Others instead expressed disappointment that her partner Timothée Chalamet wasn’t in any of the photos, despite Kylie sharing photos from time they spent together. One fan said: “Post the pictures with Timothee alreadyyyyyy.”
