When Haweye star Jeremy Renner was crushed by massive snowplough the experience changed his life. The actor was left with 38 broken bones, a collapsed lung and even his eyeball exploded out of the socket.

But as he fought to breathe he momentarily died at the scene – leaving him with an overwhelming feeling of what happens in the afterlife. Speaking on Lorraine on Friday he explained there was just one thing – “love”.

He told the show his near death experience was “difficult to quantify”. And he said he has realised recently: “The devil doesn’t exist when you are dead. That came to me last night.

“The devil – hatred – have to be the same. Hatred dies out, suffocates itself on the coattails of love. That’s the only thing you take with you when you die. It’s the most beautiful place.”

And the actor said when he “came back” he hadn’t wanted to return. Laughing he told viewers: “Can you imagine? It was like there’s my eye, that’s sitting on the ice. My twisted legs.”

The Mayor Kingstown star was injured in the “incident” – he refuses to call it an accident – which happened on New Year’s Day in 2023. He was helping a family member get a stuck vehicle out of the estimated three feet of snowfall from the night before when he was run over by a 14,300-lb. snowplow.

The Marvel actor was told at the time he would never walk again but has gone on to heal – but has previously said his recovery will be a “forever” process.

He has written about his experience and journey to recovery in a book, My Next Breath named after the moment he knew he had to keep on breathing or he would pass out and die. Lorraine viewers were told how the incident left hims with a heart rate so low he was clinically dead, his legs were twisted and his eyeball was out of its socket.

He said: “By the time the paramedics got there I’d already passed and came back. They got there 10 minutes later. My heart rate was pretty low and I was hypothermic at this point. I was more at risk to die permanently from the hypothermia

“It’s interesting to be able to see your left eye with your right eye. It came out of my head.”

He told how when he was 12 he had gone to a Lamaze breathing class with his mum who was pregnant at the time and he had used this later in life such as when doing auditions so he didn’t “forget to breathe”. It was this which also helped him as he lay in the snow.

Trapped under the snowplough he realised he needed to make a conscious effort to breathe or he would die. He said: “I didn’t know exactly why but I knew I wasn’t breathing and I wasn’t going to breathe unless I forced air in.

“I was struggling, I was suffocating. My ribcage and my lung was popped and all these other things were happening. I didn’t know that at the time but I thought maybe it was a cramp or some other workout. I couldn’t get air. It was essential otherwise you pass out, your organs fail and you are dead.”

He also told how the experience had changed his life and the way he dealt with fame. Writing in his book he said he often lived as a hermit, eating sandwiches in toilets at airports, waiting until the last second to get out and get on the plane.

He said: “There has been a road or a pathway between myself and the public being famous for the man that I am and not the role that I played. It’s very different. Sure I can be known as Hawkeye or this person or that person, whatever, but I’m also known for just being the man that I am and being treated as the man that I am, not as a product on the shelf that you deserve a selfie with.

“It’s become much more intimate and beautiful.” He said people would say “meaningful” things such as “glad you are with us”. He said people now had “really encouraging, loving things to say” rather than in the past when it would be ‘hey, let’s get a selfie together”.

A second celebrity has pulled out of playing at this weekend’s Soccer Aid event amid Sam Thompson switching roles from player to coach. Bear Grylls, who was initially set to join Harry Redknapp’s England team, has been forced to pull out of Sunday’s game.

During an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine this morning, the TV survival expert shared the disappointing news with fans. Bear confessed he had been “excited” to make his Soccer Aid debut, but unfortunately, an injury has left him unable to participate.

Speaking to Ranvir Singh on ITV show Lorraine this morning, he explained: “I know it’s a hard one, this for me. I picked up a stupid injury.

“Yeah, doing some Soccer Aid training, and some sprints and pulled a hamstring. And I’m back on Running Wild next week. So I’ve got to try and get that to recover. But I’m gutted. I think Soccer Aid is one of the most iconic things on TV through the year.”

He continued: “Such a beautiful cause as well for UNICEF. Never needed more than right now around the world, helping children suffering the most. So I’m really sad not to be playing, but I’m going to be cheering you guys on. I’m hoping Team England have got it. But yeah, well done. I’m so sorry. I’m so sad not to be joining you.”

Bear’s withdrawal comes as Sam Thompson also steps back from playing duties. The former Made In Chelsea star made the tough decision to to step back from participating in this weekend’s event following a training session yesterday.

The star-studded match was poised to feature football icons like Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, together with Lioness talents Toni Duggan, Steph Houghton and Jill Scott, and entrepreneur Steve Bartlett.

The line-up also boasts figures such as Euro 2020 champion Leonardo Bonucci, Nadia Nadim, artist Diamond and Strictly’s Gorka Marquez, as well as celebs like Paddy McGuiness, Sam Quek, Dermot Kennedy, Tom Grennan, and Martin Compston set to take part.

Unfortunately, Sam won’t be gracing the pitch due to an injury sustained during his momentous five-day charity endeavour which saw him raise over £1 million for Unicef; the efforts were marred when he suffered a dramatic calf tear. Even though he’ll be absent from the on-pitch action, Sam isn’t completely side-lined – he’ll be taking on a coaching role during the Manchester event.

Sharing an update on This Morning, he expressed: “I’m still very sore, still got the torn calf, however I am here at Soccer Aid HQ and it does not get better than this. We’ve still got the management team of England, we’ve got Vicky McClure, Tyson Fury, who’s stepping into some new shoes and Harry Redknapp..”

“But also because I’m not going to be able to run around, you’ve also got me, part of the management team. Come on baby! … I came here with high hopes and went to see Gary the physio and I can kick a ball from a standing start, but when it comes to like general chaos of playing competitive sport there’s just no way. I cant really run properly so yeah. They were very kind and said we still want you to be a part, so I get to go on the dark side with Tyson Fury.”

Sam Thompson has confirmed he’s pulled out of Soccer Aid, just hours after he came face-to-face with Louis Tomlinson – who is dating Sam’s ex Zara McDermott

Singer Louis Tomlinson has returned to Soccer Aid training in the wake of Sam Thompson quitting the charity match just hours on from their awkward meeting. Former Made In Chelsea star Sam announced his withdrawal during Friday’s edition of This Morning.

Sam and the One Direction singer had both been due to represent the England team this Sunday for Unicef, a charity for which Sam recently endured a punishing 260-mile marathon over five days.

It was sent to be a slightly awkward affair thanks to Louis now dating Sam’s recent ex, Love Island and Strictly Come Dancing star Zara McDermott. However, Sam and Louis won’t have to worry about working as a team together on the pitch thanks to Sam stepping down.

Speaking to This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, Sam explained: “We’ve still got the management team of England, we’ve got Vicky McClure, Tyson Fury, who’s stepping into some new shoes and Harry Redknapp… But also because I’m not going to be able to run around, you’ve also got me, part of the management team. Come on baby!”

Dermot then asked Sam to clarify he had pulled out of playing duties, saying: “So you can’t play this year obviously because you’re literally falling apart. So is that right? you’re not going to play but you’re part of the management team?”

“I cant really run properly so yeah. They were very kind and said we still want you to be a part, so I get to go on the dark side with Tyson Fury.”

Sam’s ex Zara raised a few eyebrows when she quickly moved on with singer Louis, 33, just weeks on from moving out of Sam’s London home at the start of the year – with Sam one of those surprised to see his former girlfriend coupled up with the One Direction legend.

Offering his insight into why some individuals jump into new romances quickly, he noted: “I suppose a lot of people look for validation in other people right? And they look for the next person instantly because it’s like ‘I need to find someone else to fill that hole and I need to find that excitement.'”.

However, during a podcast conversation with his friend Pete Wicks, Sam appeared more composed when discussing the topic. He recalled an interview where the focus turned to his impending encounter with Louis.

Sam shared: “At the end of the interview, he goes, ‘Look mate, I’ve got to ask the question that everyone wants to know. This is sort of the big question really, the elephant in the room, What’s it going to be like with you and Louis? Obviously he’s doing Soccer Aid too.'”.

Sam chuckled as he recounted the strained moment: “Mate, you should have seen the room, everybody, it was silent then everyone goes ‘Woah, Woah Woah, end the call! End the call!’ and I have just gone ‘No, no guys, I’ve got this, I’ve got this.’ I held my hands up to say just relax.”

He clarified his sincere motivations, asserting, “I think I did alright and I meant everything I said as well, that it’s not about me or Louis or who anyone is dating, it’s f**king Unicef and charity and everyone is going to be there for the exact same reason. And if he has anything about him which I’ve heard he does, he’s going to sit there and say the exact same thing.”

During a chat with The Mirror back in May, Sam spoke excitedly about the prospect of encountering Louis: “I’ve never met Louis, but the moment I see him, I’ll be like, ‘mate, how amazing is this what we’re doing, and hopefully we can make as much money as possible. And I imagine – from what I hear is a really lovely bloke – I imagine the reply will be exactly the same.”

Sabrina Carpenter slammed by domestic violence charity as she defends sexy image

Sabrina Carpenter is facing intense backlash following her latest album cover, with a domestic leading domestic violence charity accusing her of ‘reducing women to pets’

The backlash of Sabrina Carpenter’s latest raunchy look for her album cover has continued with the singer being slammed by a leading domestic violence charity. She has been accused of “reducing women to pets” in the latest outburst, but continues to defend her actions.

As the former Disney star, 26, announced her 12-song record called Man’s Best Friend earlier this week, she accompanied it with an image of a faceless man. In the upload he is seen pulling the star’s hair as she posed on all fours.

The picture has caused outrage online, with Glasgow Women’s Aid the latest to vent their frustration. In a statement, the organisation said: “Sabrina Carpenter’s new album cover isn’t edgy, it’s regressive.

Her next album Man's Best Friend will be released in August

“Picturing herself on all fours, with a man pulling her hair and calling it “Man’s Best Friend” isn’t subversion. It’s a throwback to tired tropes that reduce women to pets, props, and possessions and promote an element of violence and control. We’ve fought too hard for this.”

It went on: “We get Sabrina’s brand is packaged up retro glam but we really don’t need to go back to the tired stereotypes of women. Sabrina is pandering to the male gaze and promoting misogynistic stereotypes, which is ironic given the majority of her fans are young women!”

It ended by urging: “Come on Sabrina! You can do better!” And they were far from the only ones pleaded with the star. Many fans took to TikTok to vent about the “uncomfortable” nature, with one user receiving over 51,000 likes after saying: “I just don’t think this is a good image that we should be preaching.”

In agreement, another user said: “FINALLY people are talking about this. Her rebrand hyper-sexualising herself for the male gaze is setting us so far back.” However, others failed to see the issue.

And Sabrina backed up offering and denied any wrongdoing in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. The cover star of the latest magazine said: “It’s always so funny to me when people complain. They’re like, ‘All she does is sing about this’.

“But those are the songs that you’ve made popular. Clearly you love sex. You’re obsessed with it.”

The latest furore comes as the star is widely known to have a sarcastic sense of humour and sexual innuendos. Recently, during her X-rated 2025 BRIT Awards performance, the star’s actions also divided viewers.

Over 800 people complained to Ofcom following the show as the pop star kicked off the annual music award ceremony with a rendition of her hits Espresso and Bed Chem.

She wore red lacy outfit as her and her dancers performed to the innuendo laden song that was broadcast on ITV well before the 9pm watershed.

A British reality TV star has spoken out amid concern she was involved in a horrific car crash. Amy Christophers, best known for appearing on E4 series Married At First Sight UK, has confirmed she wasn’t injured in the incident and was actually a first responder.

The 35-year-old, who now works as a sports presenter, has said that she has received multiple messages on social media from concerned fans after onlookers noticed her at the scene of the crash in Cornwall.

But Amy has reassured worried followers that she was not injured or involved in the car accident, which occurred near Falmouth, Cornwall on Saturday.

Amy, who says she was first on the scene, wasn’t going to speak on the matter but has been prompted to release an official statement due to “rumours flying that she was injured.”

The reality TV star has recalled coming around a bend on the A393 between Lanner and Ponsanooth at 2pm on Saturday, June 7, to find two vehicles involved in a serious collision.

Running to help the driver trapped in one of the cars, Amy says she quickly realised despite her fight reflexes kicking in, she had no idea what to do.

“I was with my Mum when we drove round the bend near Ponsanooth to find ourselves first on the scene of an awful crash involving two cars. I don’t want to talk about it in lots of detail, but I was helping someone who was trapped in a car.”

Running to the car Amy said her auto instinct just took hold. “I called the emergency services right away and they talked me through everything, they were amazing. And it meant I knew what to do to help everyone as I was being given step by step instructions. Somehow we got the situation under control.”

TV presenter Amy says she was swiftly identified at the scene, prompting numerous messages about her involvement in the incident, with some even sparking speculation that she was injured.

Amy clarified: “I just want to make it clear that I was not hurt or involved in the accident, as I have had a few people asking. I was helping and I very quickly realised I didn’t know what to do – it scared me a lot and made me realise we need to all learn more about first responder training for emergencies like this.”

The incident is said to be currently under investigation. Cornwall Live reported that a woman was left seriously injured after the crash. The publication claims police were called to the scene at around 2pm, following reports of a crash between a silver Toyota and blue Hyundai. And, the driver of one of the vehicles, a woman from Falmouth, was taken to Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske with serious injuries.

Amy was one of the most memorable stars from the 2021 series of the widely popular E4 programme. The sports journalist was introduced to viewers when she walked down the aisle to meet (and marry) her partner, Josh Christie, for the very first time as part of a unique dating experiment.

Unfortunately, their marriage on the show didn’t work out but she did become a huge icon for being outspoken and keeping viewers’ eyes glued to the screen.
