The only criticism was that it requires a few uses to get the full benefits. One customer wrote: “I think this product requires multiple use. The first time I used it, it did not absorb well into my hair and I couldn’t use it to detangle but it did however leave my hair soft. On the second use, it absorbed much better into the hair”.

Ruth Langsford has issued an update on her mother’s health following a ‘horrible chest infection’. The TV star said that while Joan, 94, isn’t quite well enough to ‘come out yet’, it’s hoped she will return to her usual self very soon.

“Thank you for all your kind wishes for my Mum,” the Loose Women panellist wrote on Instagram yesterday. “… she’s doing a lot better after that horrible chest infection.

“… Not quite well enough to come out yet, but I hope she’ll be back dancing in my kitchen very soon. In the meantime she’s enjoying lots of cuddles with Nurse Maggie! “

Joan hasn’t been too fortunate with her health in recent months, having also fractured her pelvis in December, no more than a year after breaking her hip. Although the family were relieved Joan wouldn’t require surgery, she did need to spend some time in the hospital to recover.

In a December Instagram post, Ruth explained: “No dancing in my kitchen peeling the veg for my darling Mum this Christmas… she’s had a fall and fractured her pelvis!

“She’s ok…ish, no surgery required thank goodness but she needs rest and time to heal now. She’s in hospital at the moment but I’m hoping to get her home soon. This time last year she fell and broke her hip but recovered well. “

The ordeal significantly impacted Ruth’s outlook on life, especially since her mother couldn’t enjoy their usual Christmas traditions last year. “She’s a very strong woman so I’m sure she’ll recover from this too,” Ruth added. “Put’s life and what’s important into perspective eh?”

Joan was treated by nursing staff at Woking Community Hospital and St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey. Thankfully, she was well enough to return home by January, joining Ruth and her dog, Maggie.

In a separate post, Ruth wrote: “She’s recovering brilliantly after fracturing her pelvis in December…. charging around again on her walker like a good ‘un! Hope I’ll have her grit and energy when I’m 94! LEGEND. “

Joan’s infection also comes just months after Ruth herself suffered a health issue and explained to fans that she’d been housebound for days. “I’ve had a couple of days at home with the lurgy but feeling better today so I ventured out for a stroll with Maggie,” the 64-year-old said previously.

Sharing a quick clip of her dog trotting along the pavement, she added: “Nice to get some fresh air. “

Former world record holder Paula Radcliffe says her “body is done” with road racing.

The 51-year-old secured the Six Star Medal – which is awarded to runners who complete all six of the world marathon majors – by completing the Boston Marathon on Monday.

The mum-of-two, who retired in 2015, finished Boston with a time of 2 hours 53 minutes and 44 seconds.

Writing on Instagram after the race, Radcliffe says she injured her calf at the nine-mile mark and that the race was the perfect way to “sign out” from road racing.

“Wow, thank you Boston,” wrote Radcliffe.

“My calf went at 9 miles and I couldn’t go full out from then on, but on the plus side the foot is great and I got to savour and enjoy those Boston Marathon crowds.

The former Commonwealth Games gold medallist ended her post with a hashtag that read “end of the road”.

Radcliffe completed her first marathon in a decade when she ran Tokyo earlier this year.

The Briton held the women’s marathon world record for 16 years from 2003, with a time off 2:15:25.

Beyonce’s mum Tina Knowles diagnosed with breast cancer after missed mammogram

https://i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk/incoming/article35098036.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/0_Mufasa-The-Lion-King-Premiere-Arrivals.jpg

Beyoncé’s mum Tina has been diagnosed with breast cancer, she has announced. Tina, 71, revealed she had delayed a mammogram appointment during the coronavirus pandemic before the tumours were discovered by doctors. Following her diagnosis, with one tumour being revealed to be benign and the other being Stage 1, Tina was informed that had she kept to her regular mammograms, it could have been detected at Stage 0 – which means the cancer may not have spread from the breast tissue.

Tina admits that she had always taken care of herself but following her diagnosis, she was “in disbelief. ” The tumours were found in her left breast. Although she had delayed her mammograms, Tina’s cancer was not spreading and was believed to be slow-growing. “I; m getting emotional,” Tina said when she was asked how difficult it was to process her diagnosis.

Speaking to Gayle King, Tina said: “It was Stage One which I thought was the earliest stage. Then when I told my sister, she said ‘No, actually, there’s a Zero’. So if I had gone for my mammogram, I would have got it at the Zero stage – thank God it was still very small, hadn’t spread, it was a very slow spreading cancer. “

She later underwent a lumpectomy to remove the tumour from her breast in August and is believed to be cancer free. Reflecting on the day of her surgery, she said “all of her girls” showed up to support her.

Throughout the terrifying ordeal, her two daughters, superstar Beyoncé and Solange Knowles were by Tina’s side, with friends also visiting her in hospital. “I was so nervous. And so they started just joking with me. ” It was during her hospital stay when musician Solange shared a video with Tina of the viral “demure” moment which captivated audiences on TikTok.

She added: “I start laughing. I get out of my head… Then I said ‘I’m just so happy that y’all are here’ and I thought about the song ‘Walk With Me’ which they used to sing all the time. ” Solange and Tina’s niece Angie Beyincé then sang the track to the businesswoman before her operation.

Becoming tearful, Tina said of the song: “It’s about God walking with you into something and protecting you. They sung that song and I went in there feeling just like ‘God has got me. ‘” But months after her operation, Tina almost missed Glamour’s 2024 Women of the Year event after suffering from an infection after the surgery.

Beyoncé made a point of telling her mother she needed to rest, insisting that her health and wellbeing was more important than being recognised. However, Tina, who in the past has remained marginally outside of the spotlight was determined to come back fighting.

She said in her CBS interview: “A lot of my life, I just refused to be recognised. I would never take an award. I would never want the attention to me. And this was my saying ‘I deserve this’. ” The businesswoman who helped establish the fashion brands House of Deréon and Miss Tina by Tina Knowles said that she knew having her daughters by her side would empower her.

“That’s why when I said, you know, with them, I could get through anything,” she said. Tina added: “Nobody knew what I was talking about. “

The NHS states that breast cancer is the most common type of cancer for women in the United Kingdom. Symptoms include a lump or swelling in the breast, chest or armpit, changes of skin, a change in size or shape in one or both breasts, discharge from the nipple, a change in the shape or look of the nipple or a pain in the breast or armpit.

‘Back of a fag packet’ – Wisden criticises ICC and World Test Championship

The World Test Championship is a “shambles masquerading as a showpiece”, says Wisden editor Lawrence Booth.

Writing in the 162nd edition of the yearly book, Booth also set his sights on the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Booth questioned Jay Shah’s promotion from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary to ICC chairman in August – at a time when India were refusing to play Champions Trophy matches in the ICC-appointed host nation of Pakistan.

“The communal shrug]that met Shah’s appointment] confirmed a sorry truth: 2024 was the year cricket gave up any claim to being properly administered, with checks, balances, and governance for the many, not the few”, Booth wrote.

Booth then turned his attention to the biennial WTC, suggesting the tournament should run across four years rather than two.

The WTC cycle runs for two years, with teams playing six series during that period – three at home and three away – 12 points are awarded for winning a match, six for a tie and four for a draw.

However, as teams play a different number of Tests across their six series, the table is ranked by percentage of points won.

“Among the first items in Shah’s in-tray ought to be the World Test Championship, a shambles masquerading as a showpiece”, Booth said.

“With teams playing a different number of matches against a different set of opponents, it requires a calculator to rank them, offending the first rule of thumb for any sporting endeavour: it must be easy to follow.

” The ICC cannot allow the championship to continue as if designed on the back of a fag packet. Double its length to four years, like football and rugby, and ensure the top nine in the rankings all play each other, home and away, over series of at least three Tests. “
