We Must Go Beyond Hope, Work Toward Credible Elections In 2027 — Clement Nwankwo

Clement Nwankwo, the organizer of the Civil Society Situation Room, has emphasized the necessity of deliberate action to ensure 2027’s credible elections, warning that any effort wasted.

Nwankwo, who was a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today, said, “If I say I’m hopeful but don’t, nothing happens.” We don’t act when I say I’ve lost hope. I’ve witnessed unconstitutional rule and dictatorship in action. Nothing can prevent our democracy from surviving.

He emphasized that Nigeria needs to actively pursue electoral reforms rather than just optimism.

Nwankwo also criticised political party internal structures, claiming that there is still a lot of internal democracy and fairness.

Xu ‘loved’ Wimbledon debut despite loss to Raducanu

Despite falling to Emma Raducanu in straight sets in the first round, Mimi Xu, a teenager, “loved every single moment” of her senior Wimbledon debut.

Xu, 17, who had earned a wildcard for the Championships, defeated Raducanu 6-3, 6-3, to seal the match.

Xu hopes the experience will motivate her to play in SW19 as the first Welsh player to do so in 20 years.

Xu told BBC Sport Wales, “I loved every second of it.”

“I wouldn’t claim that it was my dream debut because it was undoubtedly my dream debut,” he said.

However, I feel truly honoured and happy that this was my debut.

I don’t believe I could have asked for more than that to play against a fellow Brit who is a Grand Slam champion on a big court.

The atmosphere, the court, and the crowd are all there. It wasn’t for me to stop.

Earlier this month, Swansea-born Xu had won notable titles at the Birmingham, Ilkley, and Nottingham Open.

She defended her 2021 US Open champion, saying, “I’ve come so far even from last year.

“It’s obvious that my game is different from Emma’s, but I genuinely believe I can succeed there.”

“I was telling people that this was my best grass season ever, even before Wimbledon.”

Everything else was a bonus because the last three years I’ve played on the women’s side included only one victory and one defeat in my first competition.

My good stuff is really good, in my opinion. She continued, “It’s just fine tuning and cleaning a few bits here and there.”

“But I sincerely believe that I am so capable that this is what has ignited my inner fire.”

ExCLUSIVE: Love Island alumna Jess White has explained why skipping All Stars might have been a good thing in disguise.

Jess White gives an account of her time on the show and potential return.

Love Island alumni Jess White has opened up about turning down All Stars – and why skipping it might’ve been a blessing in disguise. The 23-year-old, who caused a stir in Series 10 with her feisty firepit moments, revealed she was approached earlier this year.

Jess explained to us that she had a few conversations with the producers and met with the executives, who all were lovely. “But it just didn’t work out for me timing wise.”

Would she attend the following year? “Yes, if it felt like the right time.” However, January is still a long way off; I might already have a husband there. she made fun of. Jess admits that watching the All Stars lineup this year didn’t make her swoon. She admitted, “I didn’t actually fancied anyone.” Because Omar is my mate, I probably would have needed to form a friendship couple with him. And that is boring, too”!

Jess claims that trolls have been her biggest challenge since leaving the villa, not love. She claimed that “the online scrutiny is insane.” People say I’m trying to be like someone else when I post a hair video, but it’s exhausting.

She continues, “I expected some skepticism, but I didn’t realize how cruel people can be.” It’s shocking how far some people go to just to leave a nasty comment.

Jess maintains her optimism and options, though. Jess also shared her thoughts on the antics occurring in the villa while the season is in full swing. Yasmin

Fans were left fuming after Ben continued to belittle Yasmin to the boys in scenes that aired last week (June 27), calling her “a nobody”. He already left ITV viewers incensed when he was shown calling the girl “irrelevant” as they split up.

She’s a bombshell and belongs there for a reason, Jess said of Yasmin. “It is challenging when you’re there and you’re an OG because anyone who walks in feels threatened,” he said. Because it is nerve-wracking, I’ve always made a point of making them feel welcome. Being a bombshell can make you lonely. I made sure that the girls who entered my season didn’t feel that way because a few of the girls who came in during that time felt very isolated.

She seems to be becoming isolated, which I don’t like because I don’t believe that’s what’s happening with Yasmin this season. Although I don’t disagree that she is acting in a certain way, it’s undesirable if she feels isolated and unable to reach anyone who wants to talk to.

Speaking about other cast members, Jess had a lot to say, especially about Harry Cooksley, who fans are saying is playing a game.

“Oh my God! Is he not just Tom Clare’s double? [laughs] I’m sorry, but what the hell! When he first went in, I wasn’t sure about him, because I couldn’t get over the fact that he’s 30, he’s so immature! He just denies everything that’s put at him, but then just is like “oh wait, yeah I did say that!” He’s getting away with murder! Helena is letting him get away with mischief!”

“I think I’d have a few words with him as well,” he said, “I mean if I were there, it would probably be World War 3 again because I’m sorry to disagree.”

Tunisia court sentences lawyer critical of president to two years in prison

Sonia Dhamani, a well-known lawyer and renowned critic of President Kais Said, was sentenced to two years in prison by a Tunisian court, according to lawyers. The case, according to rights groups, shows a growing crackdown on dissent in the North African nation.

After the judge refused to adjourn the trial on Monday, Dhamani’s attorneys withdrew from the trial, alleging that the defendant was facing two counts of attempted murder.

Dhamani was given a sentence by the court for making statements that criticized sub-Saharan Africa’s practices.

The verdict was described as a “grave injustice,” according to lawyer Bassem Trifi.

“What’s happening is a farce,” the statement goes. Sami Ben Ghazi, a different Dhamani lawyer, claimed that Sonia is facing two charges for the same statement.

Dhamani was detained last year after making remarks that questioned the government’s position on undocumented African refugees and migrants in Tunisia during a television interview.

The case was brought under Decree 54, the country’s controversial cybercrime law, which has received widespread condemnation from local and international human rights organizations.

Since Saied seized control of the majority of the powers, disbanded the elected parliament, and formally ruled by decree in 2021, the opposition has characterized this as a coup, with the opposition claiming this was a coup. Most opposition leaders, journalists, and critics of Saied have been imprisoned.

Saied refutes the accusations, claims that his actions are legal and intended to end years of chaos and widespread corruption, and that they are legal.

Saeed is using the judiciary and police to attack his political opponents, according to activists and human rights organizations.

Said refutes these accusations, saying that he will not be a dictator and that he will hold everyone accountable for their actions regardless of their name or position.

In a massive trial earlier this year, dozens of defendants received 66-year jail terms. The trial was criticized as being politically motivated and baseless by critics.

According to their attorneys, the defendants were charged with “conspiracy against state security” and “belonging to a terrorist group.”

Former Ennahda leaders Rached Ghannouchi, Hichem Mechichi, former prime minister, and Noureddine Bhiri, former justice minister, were among those who were the targets.

Tunisia’s strong political activism among its citizens and civil society members, who frequently took to the airwaves and streets to make their voices heard, had been hailed as perhaps the only democratic triumph of the 2011 “Arab Spring” revolutions.

A healthy political system was established in the years that followed the revolution, which overthrew long-standing autocrat Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, with numerous elections declared free and fair by international observers.

Pop star Harry Styles was spotted locking lips with an unknown woman at Glastonbury as they partied the night away together. He was seen getting very close to a mystery woman in a 12-second smooch in the VIP area.

The One Direction star, 31, has long faced intrigue into his love life, and can count a number of A-list stars as his exes. Harry most recently split with Canadian actress Taylor Russell in May last year.

Harry has been linked to the reveller at Glastonbury for the first time since the split, but she didn’t appear to have any celebrity status. The woman who caught Harry’s attention is reportedly Ella Kenny, a producer.

Harry was seen with Ella at 2:30am on Saturday night as they took in the festivities on Worthy Farm. The new romance seems a break from his usual go-to of high-profile superstars, including Taylor Swift and Kendall Jenner.

“Harry and Ella had fun together at Glastonbury and shared a kiss on the dancefloor,” a source told the Sun. “They had a good time in the moment, but it doesn’t mean it will evolve into anything. They just got on and had a snog.”

She appears to be a normal, down-to-earth girl, which is unusual for some of the famous people he’s previously dated, they continued. Ella, who attended Bournemouth University, has been producing in London for almost three years.

Harry and Ella did not leave the VIP area, but they did, along with Kid Harpoon, a musician and producer. After their dance, she made her entrance and was later spotted kissing Harry.

According to a source, “Harry only saw this woman when they were together,” “sparks were flying right away.” They continued, “Harry showed up with a few of his mates, but as soon as she arrived, they were almost inseparable.”

They gave a brief brief briefing before arriving, saying that they didn’t seem to care who was watching. The witness claimed that “the pair” had a long-standing relationship.

After a “make or break” trip to Japan, Harry and his most recent ex, Taylor, called it off. An insider at the time stated that they are taking some time apart because they went through a rough patch after their trip to Japan.

He has visited both America and London. It was obvious that Taylor had made Harry happy, and they made a lovely couple. However, things have gotten more strained recently, and they’ve taken some time off.

Harry is said to have arrived at Worthy Farm in Somerset on Friday and spent his first night there partying with mates until around 6am.

Many fans hoped for a One Direction reunion as former bandmate Louis Tomlinson was also at the event for the weekend with his new girlfriend Zara McDermott.
