In the face of continued uncertainty surrounding his future at Newcastle United, Alexander Isak is currently training by himself at his former club Real Sociedad.

Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia ended with the Sweden striker with the club claiming he had a “minor” thigh issue.

Isak wants to leave the Magpies, with Liverpool interested in signing the former Borussia Dortmund striker.

In 2022, the 25-year-old left La Liga side Real Sociedad for Newcastle in a £60 million deal.

He is not training with the team, according to sources who have spoken to BBC Sport. He is using the Spanish club’s facilities for training.

Eddie Howe, the club’s head coach, stated earlier this week that no clubs have made a bid for the striker.

Isak is still our player, he said. He continued, “He’s working for us.”

We have some control over what comes next for him, to some extent. I’d like to think that we have every chance still. I wish he would stay, but I can’t control that.

No club has made a formal offer to buy Alex, saying, “We haven’t received one.”

Last season, Isak made 27 goals in all 42 games for Newcastle.

Howe’s side were defeated by a K-League XI on Wednesday, dropping their third game of the pre-season.
